@suhsjake is that a custom soldier model? if so where did you your get the beret from?

It's from the A1 sample model. MTV texture by Johnny (only temporarily until I a can make a new one).

@Khugan: The joy of the pro's and con's of high versus low poly baking :).

You could photoshop the normals but tricky...

What you could do is adjust the high poly model to match the curves of the low poly model. As you know your high poly model (in subdiv mode) will try to relax your shape, unless you controle it with extra edges.

My suggestion:

Same can be done on the edge between the two corners, personally i would leave that edge out in the low poly model.

Otherwise you can add a bevel to the sharp corners in the low poly model with or without the modified high poly bake.

In the end, it will always be a hunt finding a balance (polycount versus normal map).

I'm narrowing in on it slowly but surely. It's not perfect by any means, but I am pleased with the way it is turning out. I have learned a lot from this project and all your tips and suggestion. :p

I've gone from a 800k high poly to this 9111 face low poly. My limit is 10k (minus the scope bi-pod and other attachments) and I still have at least 4 small rails to go and the bottom of the top rail where it meets the receiver and guard. I may have to add back in some faces around the holes where I am getting some ugly artifact up close.

Looking at all the UV maps, I am wondering how on earth I am going to fit it all in a single map! :confused:

I tried making an unconventional multicam pattern but it ended up looking more like difused MARPAT or flora. Anyway fell free to use it for you addons:

did some work on my old school delta units. I got inspired by some OPF ranger and special forces unit addon, i can't recall who made them though.

No, the yellow/tan in the pattern isn't standard, it is supposed to be a light tan. Usually, that is a sign of cheap Chinese knockoff, or substandard materials.

the UM21 system, some ELCS sets, and the LC-1 woodland stuff is pretty similar but not as saturated as the vest shown above.

Took a hiatus, got re-inspired, so here I am again.

Took care of some lighting issues, still some more to chase down, as you can see.

added shadow volume, geometry and memory LODs, added a zasleh (Obviously)

Waiting to UV map the son of a bitch to do the detail LODs.

Any good tutorials for UV mapping in O2? :confused:

And I have no idea how to do any of the model.cfg or scripting stuffs, otherwise this screen would have been in game (I think). :o

Its temporary until I can think of something better. I'm contemplating having a version with a reflex sight, and I have an idea on how to do it so you have paralax but not be able to see it when not looking down the sights. More to come later. :D

Potentially. At the very least you'll see different grenade types.

Ok, we've seen numerous WIPs of Cheyenne Dropship... but only one released is from OFP? Are there any newer releases that I'm not aware? Good job on the M41A, Vilas made one before for his Colonial marines.

What about the knives and pointy sticks?
