75th Ranger Regiment ACU Units (WIP of course xD)

Recommended Posts

No they don't. The USMC uses the oldest crappiest equipment that the Army hands down to them when we are done with it. Ok, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but they most certainly do not use SCARs. Hell, they don't even use the M4 as a standard rifle, they still use the M16.

Nah that pretty much sums it up. I remember hearing about people back home whining about deploying us with out the proper equipment and all I could do was laugh. Of course Marines go into battle under-equipped! The day that changes will be a cold day in hell. ;) :o::shoot:

MARSOC is trained on SCAR, since they're part of SOCOM now. But you're right, USMC regulars definitely do not.

Manzilla, when Marines go into battle properly equipped is the day Hell freezes over and pigs fly.

So are you going to end up using Multicam for these textures? I have a full set of Multicam so it would be nice to see it in the game. :)

I'm thinking about it. Maybe doing two, ACU / Ranger Green and Multicam. Not sure yet, if I have the time of course.

I know that the standard Marines don't but I've seen Force Recon/MARSOC using them.

EDIT: Seems people are already mentioned that.

I don't know if the crye multicam is being used by the Rangers yet. As for the images of them using it, it was part of the future warrior program

Future Force Warrior

I know some SF units use em because there allowed to wear whatever they desire (ACU, multicam, 3 camo desert, etc)

Here's a thread for exclusively images of SOF - and there's a $hit load so have fun looking through. I'm sure they'll be alot you'll like

I would say, the most accurate right now would just be ACU's, with a tan plate carrier... But what would be more practical for Chenarus is BDU's. :D But regardless of what you decide to go with, I'm sure I will be playing it and loving it :D.

Instead of tan I think the ranger green CIRAS would be more accurate for them.

Btw, similar to that SOF thread of militaryphotos.net there is also a dedicated Ranger thread.

could you by any chance make a crappy set of regular acu army guys? all you need to do is just change the marine camo to acu and its pretty much all done.

Great Binkowski, I really liked your previous addons for ArmA (hope to see them ported to ArmA 2 someday). Altough my heart's tack (hope it's the correct term) is the USMC, I'm also a big fan of Army Rangers, so I'm really happy you make them.

Blakhawkdown: repainting the MARPAT in ACU colors is not the best solution, the two has many differences, their cut is different, their pattern is slightly different, not to mention the Army uses other protecting equipment (IOTV instead of MTV, MICH helmet instead of Lightweight helmet) and that unit patches and insignias are worn by Soldiers, but not Marines. Better solution could be to port some addons from ArmA 1, Binkowski's and CameronMcDonald's units for example.

The USMC Engineer uses the standard US Army MICH Helmet for some odd reason so a retex wouldnt look too out of place if it was on that unit.

Good to note, as i use the engineer a lot as a substitute to US Army Troops alot. i also downloaded the Desert map demo so i can use it to recreate DESERT STORM! (With, of course, little historical accuracy in terms of events :o)

-Frost;1371545']Looking forward to this' date=' out of curiosity will this be included with ACEMod 2?[/quote']

Possibly. I'm not at liberty to say YES or NO at the current moment. But it's a possibility.

Yes, very great Units these it's a MUST HAVE for ArmA2 like the same as the SF Unit addon that was released for Armed Assault.:):):);)

But this Rifle is a MUST HAVE for ArmA2 and these Units too.

FN SCAR Heavy

SCAR_NEW_13.jpg

Don't forget a SCAR Light with a longer barell and hiogher-cap magazine!

Shocking detail, there, be sure to include versions w/o the greanade launcher.

Also, i think that the SCAR should've been included in ArmA II, as it is 100% more likely to replace the M16/M4 series than the XM8 ever would have!

That being said, make sure the Army gets nicer toys than the Marines :j:

Also, yeah, that's an exaggeration! if that were true, the marines would still be using Springfield Trap-door converted percussion muskets!!!

Rangers don't wear the standard Army issue interceptor body armor. I'll get some pics of what they're wearing now and post it up here.

UPDATE:

RLCS (Ranger Load Carrying System) is what's currently being used. It's basically just molle in ranger green. It's alot like the MTV.

RLCS PIC

Those are the MBSS - left (Maritime Ballistic Survivor System), which I believe is more commonly used by the MSOB operators (ex Force Recon) or the MEUSOC. The vest on the right is teh RRV or the Rhodesian vest which is used by Rangers alot and is a good choice to incorporate it in the game. They mostly use the RRV with MBSS backplates tho, RRV by itself is open at the back and works as a chest rig.

Also 75th Rangers as a part of Army use all ACU, but I think you want to do their mission specific gear, meaning the gear Rangers use for instance in Iraq, nowadays.

I wouldnt completely skip on multicam, I think 75th Rangers have a different pattern in works (AOR1 and AOR2(desert)?), very similiar to marine Marpat, but I would still stick to their current loadouts which look more sick than any of the overhyped multicam :p

Here is a few references to their current mission specific (Iraq) loadouts regarding teh uniform -, they mostly use ACU's or mixed - ACU pants with ORC PCU level 5 tops (all weather clothing) or they use complete ORC PCU suits (the color of PCU's is called Alpha Green). I think the PCU/ACU mix would be perfect for arma2. Dont forget painted MICH 2000 (from OD variations to CB colors) and if possible add the Petzl headlamp on their helmets. Gear liek vests are I think, like someone already said before, mainly Ranger Green and Coyote Brown (mission specific).

For boots I do not know, but I have seen alot of Asolo Fusion 95 GTX hiking shoes being used by 75th and I believe the models are already in the game, used for BLUFOR/FR/Assault Rifleman&Assault Grenadiers ingame models (or the shoes are Merrel Sawtooths, both are legit).

Here are the pics

ranger3-1.jpg

(PIC ABOVE) You can see the ACU/ORC PCU mix, MICH 2000, arcteryx kneepads, Asolo FSN 95 gtx shoes on the guy to the left, ranger green vest (I believe it is an RRV, cant confirm tho) etc...

2rangers.jpg

Similiar stuff - the guy kneeling - Merrel Sawtooths, Petzl Tactikka headlamp on MICH 2000, RRV ranger green vest with MBSS backplate and PACA armor underneath it (I think so), the guy standing has Coyote Brown gear, arcetryx kneepads etc..

050225-f-9999x-003.jpg

All using ORC Level 5 PCU's, Asolo fusion 95 gtx shoes, CB/khaki gear (?)

http://www.shrani.si/f/3t/Ax/ZEk4arC/picture019.jpg

Also ACU/ORC PCU mix, RRV vest with MBSS backplate and cumberbound and the PACA armor underneath...

http://www.shrani.si/f/3D/oK/NEMietE/hr1lpb.jpg

I think this guys are not real rangers, airsofters but still you can see the legit gear.

Please note that I am no army/gear hardcore expert, Im just trying to help out here with realism and add my observations, because I would love to see these units in arma2. I may be wrong, so feel free to correct me. Id do (try to) it myself but I have absolutely no knowledge on how to do anything of this:(

CHeers cant wait for ace2

Saw the last of the 3 reference pics a while ago on mp.net, it's shot in 2002 early afghanistan, so kits aren't exactly up to date.

Can't wait to see you units ingame, as I loved the ones for Arma1 :)

Edit: If you need more ref pics, you might wanna take a look here:
