VopSound 2.1

Ok i've been using this mod thing is i can only join a COUPLE of servers, everywhere else i just get kicked, why wouldnt every admin allow this mod ? also, some servers when i join i just get "session lost", it doesnt happen if i dont use vopsound, whats up with that ?

Yeah I have noticed alot of people geting automatically kicked on alot of the servers with that Mod.Im sure most people will run it soon but it will just take a while for people to catch up.

It is the signature system. Server admins need to allow any addon via key.

If they dont, and have the sig system active, you get booted for any addon.

How would i do that? i have a server and i cant get on it :confused:

in your server config you may find this entry.

verifySignatures=1;

If you have not installed the keys or the server you want to play has not installed the keys but that check turned on you get kicked.

Ok brilliant, thanks :) Where do i install the keys to though? do i do this server side or is it client side?

This isn't necessarily a bug report, but every time I try to extract vopsound.pbo from the compressed folder, it says the file is broken and won't let me.

One server I frequent is the 15MEU. I've used other mods on their server, but this one fails to, saying it's not supported. Also, after applying the "updates" to this, VOP_SOUND is loaded 2 times on startup, and errors on Vop_Sound and VoP_Sound_C when the server kicks me.

As a point of ref, the RH_HeliSounds mod works on that server no prob.

That's because we have signature checks on our server. In ARMA I, we had VOP sound on as one of the allowed sigs, but because it changes things in game, we can't use it as in ARMA I, that's how scripts got broken a lot of the time on our servers, people having game changing mods.

I actually came here to ask if you guys could make a version that just changes sounds and nothing else (by nothing else, I mean things like the turret not turning on the vehicle).

If you can, that'd be greatly appreciated. :)

well, I modded Vopsound 2.0 to my taste.

Maybe you like it too ?

This is what i did:

- removed all Vop vehicle edits (as they where too much muted for me, and I prefer the default wav's anyway)

- toned the Vop gun and explosion sounds down to default volume level (as they where much too load for me)

- let the Vop crackles snap sounds untouched

Will ask Vo.2 for permission to post a linky here, and add keyfiles if he does.

!!!!!REMOVE ALL EXISTING VOPSOUND FILES FROM EARLIER RELEASES!!!!!!

Create a folder called @VopSound_2.1 and inside this one another called Addons in your ArmA2 main directory.

Inside this new Addons folder you place the .pbo and .bisign files you would like from your extracted archive and the appropriate subfolders. The names are selfexplaining.

Environmental Sounds: Ambient and Nature sounds

Explosions,Snaps and Impact Sounds: Any kind of explosion, bulletsnap and impact sounds

Fixed Wings: Sounds for fixed wings aircrafts

Footsteps and Gear Sounds: less annoying footsteps and gear rattling (no more clonketyclonk)

Gun Sounds: Sounds for nearly every weapon ingame

Wheeled Vehicles: Sounds for wheeled vehicles

This .bisign files are there so players using properly signed addons can join to that server which requires them.

Rightclick on the ArmA shortcut in the desktop or where you have it and select properties.

In the target box add -mod=@VopSound_2.1

It should look like:

"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -cpucount=8 -nosplash -mod=@vopsound_2.1

To load more than one mod folder use semi-colons to separate them. (-mod=@mod1;@mod2;@mod3)

If a server admin decides addon signatures should be verified, he should add the following line to the server.cfg file:

verifySignatures=1

Server admin can decide which addon makers he considers trustworthy by placing their public keys in the "keys" directory. Usually (vanilla installation) there's only Bohemia Interactive's signature, called bi.bikey, in this directory.

You can find the Public Key for VopSound in this package in a folder named "Server Key".

did the issues about VOP influencing gameplay get addressed. ie not being able to lock on targets with engines turned off?

What? I don't understand what you mean here, a clarifying word might be missing... Really lost at what this means.

Thanks for your effort, just tested, I'm liking alot of the new sounds but not so much the rifle sounds. When AI are firing it sounds like it is looping, a precise to the millisecond sound repeating, which was actually abit annoying. It stopped sounding like a rifle and more like a repeating sound.

The footsteps are alot better and new explosions.

Not sure if others are getting this Dedi Server Error but when I join my server now I get "Can't play/edit dependent on vops_c_guns".

I downloaded twice and reloaded sound but still get error, did not get it in VOP 2.0. :confused:
