PMC ArmA 2 WRP Demo has been released!

Recommended Posts

PMC ArmA 2 WRP Demo v1.1

This is WRP technology demo for ArmA 2 including 51km x 51km desert terrain with many ruined cities. Experience yourself the REAL 2621.4 square kilometers terrain. Assault or defend those extremely large ruined cities. Feel how boring it is to fly 10-15 minutes for landing zone on board a MH-60S.

There is four simple missions included to show some of the terrain here, two of them are boring flights around the the place and other two uses 5km viewdistance with large amounts of troops under players command using High Command. These also aren't real missions, just some quick fun.

We have included extra terrain without any buildings where players can build their cities / bases / etc where ever they want to.

Please make no mistake, this is not "real" terrain as you know of them, this is tech demo of large terrains and cities, there is very little details or work put to it (PMC is developing a real final terrain based on this tech demo, but thats offtopic).

Readme in PMC addon/mods manuals.

Visit PMC Tactical and PMC Tactical forums as well as PMC Editing Wiki which also contains tutorials as well other ArmA 2 editing information.

Download PMC_ArmA2_wrpdemo_v1.1.rar - 18.5mb.

How do you get 51 times 51 to be equal to 2621.4? (51x51 = 2601)

Probably 51.2 x 51.2 (powers of two), being 2621.44

More like 51.1996094 x 51.1996094 = 2621.4

i second that, a plain desert with no buildings would be very helpful for clan training sessions... so i can plant my buildings where i want them :)

Thanks

Its 51.2 actually.

Its difficult to take a screenshot to capture the essence of the terrain, not sure how many people really, deep down, understands how insanely large this terrain is.

If I just put player in editor, grab a screenshot that looks very boring.

But yeah, there has been so many requests about screenshots that I'll try to come up with at least something. Of course those will be sort of fakes with 10km viewdistance etc hype stuff, but what ever works right.

I can do that, as extra bonus download.

Would it be just desert vegetation without roads and buildings, so the plants, palm trees and rocks can stay?

Okay after the ArmA 2 demo feeding frenzy settles, I'll work on the population free version as bonus download.

Oh one more thing, no roads also, I mean ALL the POPULATED places; gone?

Only thing I would hope for with such a nice large terrain is a pair of airbases at opposite corners.

(and yes I am on the way back into editing!!)

Other than that I been enjoying flying Footmunchs F16 around

I agree with this, having a couple airbases would be nice... or even just one... Seeing how this WIP tech demo has seemed to caught the eye of more than one mission editor for clan missions :P

I gotta say I do like this map for aircraft testing.

I had the F111 at full speed with afterburners on for a good 5 mins, I thought to myself right check the map, should be a fair way across now.

I was so wrong, I hadn't even made over a 1/4 of the map, and the FPS makes for some great testing for me.

Thanks a lot mate.
