pogoman979 10 Posted June 3, 2009 ok im merely asking this, havent done it so dont ban me :P. if i purchased an arma2 cd key from say here: http://www.ozcdkeys.com/arma-2-cd-key-p-102.html?osCsid=c295eb2d2042af85f62f8fe6e3381285 and used it with a torrented version of arma2, would i have a working game, or would FADE still kick in and mess everything up? (i dont see how else i could play the game otherwise if i just had the key, but its a very cheap price so i had to ask (the site is reliable too i've used it before)). PhailQuail 10 Posted June 3, 2009 I don't see why it wouldn't work, but you would most likely need to use a 'clean' disc image (no modifications by the ripper), this is assuming that there are no CD checks, and if there is (sigh, but this isn't a copy-protection hate thread). I also have a question, and seeing as it is on-topic to this thread, I will ask it here. I intend on doing the same thing as pogoman979, right down to buying from the same place, but I am interested to know if any region locking exists for using serials with a DVD from another country, as I wouldn't want to download 9GBs to find out that the region of my serial number doesn't work with that version of the game. I recommend you rather buy a proper version of the game rather than from some dodgy site that just sells you the key. Even if it's legit, what's the point in buying from them? cross 1 Posted June 3, 2009 (edited) In theory company who sells the product should have the original if he can sell the CD key. The torrent itself does not matter...for example you can share the legit downloads from online downloads. Because you'll need activation & CD key to be able to install the game and for this you need to buy the game from an authorized dealer. Getting Install files is not enough by itself. For example I can go and buy the game online but I can use the installer files from my friend because I have a crappy 1mbit connection which takes ages to download the installer. What is prohibited tho is using cracked exe. or any hacked exe or keygenerator or any illegitimate installation method. Also providing links to such torrents are prohibited because it is not possible to check their originality. So in theory...if the installer (not the torrented folder contents...the installer) is original, then you are good by only buying a CD key. But you need to make sure they are legitimate CD Keys and the site allows you to download original content or sends you a boxed copy should you request one.
