Manhatten Bug List

Hey everybody,

I haven't read through the thread (don't want to read any spoilers), so hopefully this hasn't been posted yet. If it has, apologies.

Anyway, here's the bug: at one point I return to FOB Manhattan, and the Officer who gave me the missions is dead! I didn't shoot him at all. He just mysteriously died while I was gone. Can I still finish the Manhattan campaign? Or can it be fixed?

No options for helicopter, mortars, etc... Thoughts? I tried restarting at [i']One Week Later[/i] and seeing if he was alive, but no joy. Did he die in Razor Two somehow and it's screwing me?

happened to me do after, i tried reloading my saves since i had saved it shortly after i was in the osprey since i wanted to play later, i would get all the way up there and find him dead, i restarted the mission and it was fine.

This mission took me so long to beat over 4 hours straight due to bugs, I did all the first things before the insurgent camp fine, however once i finally found the main camp...i had to keep reloading my saves and saving countless times..I eventually just sent my guys to take a M1A2 that was randomly after boomerang got fucked up by the apc and tank and eventually got the team to take out both the apc and tank and finally beat the mission...then i tried to call for a chopper back but it wasnt available so i had to take a ural all the way back and finally beat the thing.

are there any ammo crates for resupply in the base, cos i can't find any?

i get a gun symbol when i approach a vehicle, but that only brings up my inventory and the take option is always greyed out.

Well, I just got the game the other day on Steam, here's my experience with Manhattan so far:

I drove down to Gorka with a HMMWV (with M2) nicked from Manhattan and found the cache no prob, and reported it. I then drove around the red area west of Manhattan and found three sentry bases, but I never found the tents for one of them. So far, pretty normal. Then I decided to drive up to capture Lagushina.

Here's where it gets weird. I'm hanging out outside the church where Lagushina's car is, it's like 11:45, I'm like, this is going to take WAY too long, so I decide to drive over to the red area near Olshy (sp?). While I'm driving, I whip past Lagushina walking from Olshy to the church a couple of kilometers away! She just parked at the church and decided to skip mass? Huh?

OK, so that's weird. I arrest her, get her in the Humvee, drive her to LZ Jersey, and the heli picks her up. Then we start getting shot at. I finally figure out that the shooters are insurgents actually standing around in the airstrip, like around the hangars and control tower. I drive down there with the Humvee and kill all of them, but one of them gets a little marker over him on the map, and he's still writhing around on the ground, not dead.

I drive over there, and Rodriguez says something about how he's Nikitin. A little conversation ensues which basically seems to suggest that I can either decide to kill him or not kill him. However, if there was a way not to kill him, I couldn't figure it out. So I literally had no choice but to shoot a wounded high-value prisoner of war to death in cold blood on the tarmac of a friendly airstrip. I then radioed it into command like nothing had happened, and it completed the "Insurgent Leader" task.

I mean... I'm pretty sure that this wasn't exactly how the mission was supposed to play out, but... uh... it was a little disturbing. :P (Did I mention Nikitin pleaded with me not to kill him?) I still haven't figured out where the insurgent main camp is - that seems like something that we could have asked Nikitin, but nooooooo...

It's a fun game but the AI or the scenario or something is all borked to hell and back. :) I have this major problem in particular with the AI where they will simply suddenly refuse to drive anywhere. It seems related to team switch. In particular, in the worst example I've seen yet, I'm in the front passenger seat, there's AI driving and gunning, we're on our way to some town, I teamswitch to the gunner, and suddenly the driver stops without any order being given. I switch back and now the driver simply will never drive the car anywhere again until I order everyone to get out of the car and get back in. It just makes the singleplayer game no fun at all.

BUGS BUGS BUGS! nothing but bugs, paid 30 bucks for a game thats impossible to play :( so dissapointing bohemia. what went wrg in beta tesing? surely these bugs showed up? this game clearly wasn't ready for release. i hope the old campaign mission unlock code works, other wise i dont think ill ever get passed manhattan !!!

My 1.02 manhatten is broken beyond all beleif.

I cant arrest the man, he runs, my team are follwing him guns on his back, and if i dont stop them my team lights him up when he goes for his gun. No option of arresting him.

No starforce, ever.

No artillery, ever.

No radio contact with command, ever. I complete objectives and then there is just silence.

I aprehend the woman and she doesnt follow me, i dont radio it in and i amnt given an LZ.

so several objectives still to do, no way to physically do them.

I got artillery once and then that was it. I don't know if BIS intended for it to be one-shot-and-that's it or what.

The Hip or Hind that shows up for the girl spotted a couple enemy nearby and done into the trees trying to FFAR them, killing the recently picked up girl along with the whole crew. Oh well, objective completed anyway.

I don't know if this is a bug or not to be honest. I went to the church where I saw Lagushina's red car and captured her outside the church door. I was then told to escort her to the LZ.

We all piled into her car like a bunch of students off to Glastonbury and I drove to the LZ. When we go to around 90m away from it, Cooper automatically sent a message to HQ requesting immediate extraction from the LZ, but then Chedaki troops/armed villagers started turning up so we all ran over to the white barn nearby and took cover amongst the buildings and hay bales to hold off the bad guys until the helicopter arrived.

I waited and waited, killing a few guys in the process. Got the message that we'd found the main Chedaki base camp etc....but still no helicopter.

Is this a glitch, or do I have to do something else to trigger the Hind coming in. If we just hang out in the middle of the field in the open, we'll get slaughtered or at least Lagushina will since she just stands there while the bullets fly!

sometimes the hind gets shot down. First time i did this i spotted a rocket fly straight passed it but it missed, it turned around and fired at the ground somewhere a little before coming back and picking her up.

I didn't get attacked at all during that part either, other than 3 armed locals running towards us a bit from the general direction of the enemy base, i just used the binocs and issued orders to my humvee gunner to mow them down.

i got it on my first attempt at the game, after using it on some technicals that i was having a hard time getting my gunner to shoot i just launched the artillery on them and then the option disappeared. Figuring i'd used something that would become very useful and high important later on i reloaded from the base, only to discover i didn't have the option at all then either.

At the minute i'm struggling taking on the enemy base, the abrams doesn't take out the tank and the men wander into the base singlefile running straight through the middle of enemys and getting killed due to it. This would have been a good time for the artillery.

I think i'm going to try now and just ditch the support that's came to help me, get a chopper back to the base and nick a vehicle that's got some anti-armour ability.

and why the hell doesn't my squad have any AT weapons? The only thing i can think of is there's no way of stopping the AT guy using his weapon the first chance he gets whenever you put your whole squad on engage at will.

Arrested the woman, got her to the escort point.

Loads of baddies show up, I shoot them down.

But no escort turns up to get her. Is it a helo? If it is, I think it gets shot down because its flight path passes directly over the sodding main enemy camp.

Either that, or there is no escort wating for me.

Gah!

Where am I going wrong? Is it bugged?

this

doesn't always happen, sometimes they miss, and sometimes when they miss they get a load of missile/rocket in their face from the hind.

I had the extraction heli shot down on my first attempt. Next time I cleared the camps in the area before I picked the prisoner up and the heli made it in, we came under fire from a lone RPG soldier but he didnt last long.

am stuck on this to get to the lz for the escort but no helo turns up!!!! havent seen it been shot down either!!!! was really enjoying the game up untill this point to!

This part of the mission is full of mistakes on BIs part not bugs.

1st there are 2 spawn points for the base first time i played i got it miles away and the girl was taken fine. second time i got the base right in the flight path of the heli. It always gets shot down if you havent destroyed the APC and tank do this first with the UAV and your pretty much ok then. Maybe if theres an AA soldier it will get shot down before you see it because of their range. This mission seriously needs a point where if **THE PLAYER** report the heli is shot down you can drive her to the Airfield outside the AO or something because your allowed to get there. And if they do decide to do this please dont make it an auto recognize that the heli is shot down because to be honest i think the AI and the systems recognition of things like this is very poor.

Sorry to DP but if you havent played this mission yet save before you get to the pickup point because its dynamic so you can get away with it sometimes.

p.s. BI just make the heli invinci it would solve so much heartache. that or introduce flares to the game, and edit the flight path

I forgot to add, that this mission is biggest and most sandboxed mission in the game that ive played thus far....its huge and after looking at it in the editor i can see why those bugs happen, its just so huge and complex

I agree with you 100% on this.

This applies to the whole of the ARMA series. ARMA in general is huge and complex, there were bound to be bugs in lots of places even if this game were to be released in 2010 :(

Heres a really weird graphical bug i got near the church in krastowhatchamacallit, first the red VW began to dissapear and reappear then the same happened to shadows. This happened at around 10:55am mission time, 5 minutes before that woman was supposed to arrive at the church for mass. (my specs are in my sig.)

However buggy this mission is, i love it. I love the freedom which you don't get in any other game, you chose the order of your objectives, call in support, fly in, take a tank in, whatever :D

Also i was playing this as a coop mission today and theres a repair truck missing next to the huey, theres only a refuel and rearm truck. The chopper should automatically repair and rearm on the heli pad imo, starforce are too bad at flying :p i had to kill the pilot, fly to the airstrip where the mi-24 and some CDF guys are and repair the chopper there, but then i had no transport support because the pilot was dead :-(

The arty bug is also annoying

I got the game on friday 19th and applied 1.02 patch straight away without playing it on 1.01. I've not experienced any massive problems but just a few hick ups:

1) I never had the option to call Starforce 21

2) I could not call in for Arty - Again no option (Spacebar, Comms then No options - just blank)

3) AI seemed to be driving better depending on vehicles. Will follow road when on wheeled APC and will go off road when on Tracked vehicles.

4) I never had the option for support at the main base, i basically shot the gunner and commander of the T72 in very quick successions, then took out the BMP using an RPG stolen from a dead Chedaki, then ordered Team Razor to move in and clear the base. Mission accomplished.

Overall i enjoyed it, still playing it. These bugs won't beat me!

You were very lucky at the base.

I had to kill about 20 enemies coming from everywhere and very accurate in aiming.

Then I killed two soldiers in a tent and took their RPG and shot to the tank and the bmp.

Then I had to kill all the four MG nest and finally I kill the boss and took the document................................very great mission but very painful.....

Bohemia programming is art. You will never know what happens. It's very similar to Gothic 3...

About the screenshost: shit, the head is on the arm....unbelievable....!

Note the text file: unit 4 says "I need help", yeah he needs help....absolutely :yay: :yay:

Well, I am stuck in the beginning of the mission.When I need to report to Cpt. Shaftoe, I find him lying on the floor, dead. Because of this, I can't do anything. Please, help me!

Hi I'm on this mission now and more by luck than judgement have now found the base and will shortly be attempting my assult

However I've not captured Antionia Lagvshina - Her Red Car is outside the Church in the town but she is nowhere to be seen? There was a firefight there the first time I went to the town, could she have been mowed down in this? If so where now as it's still showing up as a "live" mission so to speak

I've quickly checked the dead bodies but I can't see her as one of these, any ideas?

Also any relevance to the red bullet ridden car with the dead woman on the floor surrounded by a couple of militia near your base?

I had to endmission to finish this

I approached the base (spawned by the dam) through the forests, my men took out 10-15 or so soldiers, I couldn't even see one through the trees let alone shoot one (not sure if it's graphic issues or me just not being any good!)

Crawled into the tent, took out the commander and radioed in to inform, I was then in the tent whilst my men were trapped in the woods pinned down by the machine gun nests plus tank plus APC. As soon as I left the tent I was hammered by the APC or Tank, I tried a couple of pot shots with an RPG but even that didn't finish off the APC or tank, with no artilery support it was nigh impossible

Great open ended mission spoilt by bugs, calling in the artiliery and finishing off the camp would have made for a near perfect mission

After I completed Manhattan mission there is no next mission available. Does anyone know cheat to skip mission? I don't want to wait weeks to the patch and then play this mission again. I have ArmA 1.02.58134 Czech version.

I've discovered that. Just type 'endmission'. It is good for this type of bug.

After a lot of crashes I reinstalled ArmA2 an loaded the current patch, hopefull to terminate the mission in a normal way now. But.... when I tried to catch that woman(??) who is in church until 11.30.... I found her dead in front of the church. The traces suggested a traffic accident. How can I end the mission now ?

... I hate this damned game...
