These are 2 simple missions that are alternate of each other :

-Take Montignac on Everon

-Take Larches on Desert Malden

One in which you are on East side, the other in which you are on West side.

The mission is not really one but just some kind of skirmish to get quickly into the action that puts you as a soldier member of a squad, your orders are to take Montignac (or Larches for the second version), your squad is not alone, and neither is the opposing force.

To give a bit of replayability, the mission feature entirely random weather and fog level, allowing to play in different conditions.

If you switch to the map, look at the Radio you'll notice 3 features that you can enable if you want or leave alone if you don't

- Accelerated Time : to provide the feeling of a long battle, taking whole day and night, time will be accelerated if you enable this

- Flare Night : if you don't like firefights during nights, how about some regular flares illuminating the zone , enable to benefit from this.

- Changing weather : click on this to have each 40 seconds weather+fog changed randomly (but progressively)

This is the best example of what WW4 is all about. Fight is getting really massive up there which is awesome, especially when night falls and you have to shot blind.. I really enjoy playing with the new armor values, new explosions look way better now. Thanks.

Hmm I don't realy like that the day pases so fast and my computer lags because of the fast day circle. Would be nice if it was just faught at different times of the day each time. Eksplosons and smoke looks realy nice!!

Strange that the accelerated time is causing lag, the loop delay is a ~0.2 that i thought was large enough to stay easy on the CPU.

At least on mine the mission are very smooth.

But anyways i made and uploaded 2 versions of the missions -without- the time acceleration script for people having the same problem as yours, the day time is just randomly selected and stay normal until the end of the mission.

Both missions laged but only when it was day time. thanks for the modified missions they didn't cause lag for me. Is it posible to have smoke not shining or would that look bad?

I agree with Sudayev, it's a nice mission to demonstrate the mod and the new armor values. Normally it'd be easy to take out an entire enemy squad for an old OFP veteran like me but with the new armor values and other AI enhancements in WW4 mod, I think twice before doing it. It also forces to use cover more often. Nice job.

The mission itself was pretty plain apart from the few dynamics. Nothing too special, but it was enjoyable enough to kill some time. :)

The original Larches mission lagged for me, as well. I didn't notice any in the Montignac mission, however. The lag is a downer b/c I think the time accel is a great idea. Fun showcases of the mod, all in all!

Have you tried the new Desert Malden island, does the original Take Larches (the one with the accelerated time) mission lags on it too ?

If it does not lag on Take Montignac, with the new Desert Abel it should not lag anymore.

Hi, Sanctuary,

I tried the original Larches with the new island - there is an FPS drop from the high 70's to the 30's, at night (!? - perhaps tracking with the increase in the action that takes place then). It does seem to be smoother, overall (definitely much better than what it had been), which is great b/c the accelerated 24 hr cycle is neat to play through. Nice going!

Thanks for the feedback about this, as on my recent system i could not observe any lag, i wasn't sure what exactly was the source of it for you.

So it seems the responsible for the lag some of you were observing was really the Resistance vegetation and/or buildings.

Maybe there are some faulty lods on some of those objects that were the most used in the original desert malden island.
