Futur3marin3 10 Posted June 17, 2009 thats a good OC, i wish i had the money to buy a new set of cards because im starting to think i will need somthing stronger the 2x9600gts
War Machine IXI 10 Posted June 17, 2009 I don't need a PC that is going to everything I put in it for the next few years. I just want a pc that can run Arma 2 at medium to high settings smoothly and all the older games I play witch would run no problem if it can play arma 2 decently. I almost thinking about building a custom PC on Ibuypower if it will save me money
Futur3marin3 10 Posted June 17, 2009 That link was to build your own custom paladin. Well isn't the 4870 almost identical to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX? ya and if you put what i said in my other post in it but change to 2X4870 it would be a good rig in ur price range
War Machine IXI 10 Posted June 17, 2009 Would two 4870's be better than one 4890?
Futur3marin3 10 Posted June 17, 2009 Yes,if im not mistaken.
War Machine IXI 10 Posted June 17, 2009 What is the difference between a core 2 and a core i7? Do PC gamers favor AMD or Intel when it comes to games?
Futur3marin3 10 Posted June 17, 2009 the i7 is the new intel processor, its has 3 cores and a memory controller or somthing that basicly make you system run faster , i dont have an i7 and have never really looked into them that much so ya.the core 2 has 2 or 4 cores and are good processors. and for what the gamers favor its really just an prefrence for how you ask from what i know. alot more people who overclock there systmes have amd that and amd is cheeper. but intel processors tend to be faster. i like intel because i havent had a problem with one, where amd i have had a few pcs die on me that had amds. Bohemia 10 Posted June 17, 2009 Try posting here. That is a thread dedicated to hardware specifications for the game. i think link brokn I click but it nothing happen
Praelium 0 Posted June 17, 2009 The link works for me fine. Back on topic, though, your computer might not be able to run Arma II. I can't say much about the processor, but the video card is not good. Maybe you'll run on all low settings. Wait for someone else to confirm this though. I don't have Arma II so there's not much I can say.
jackass888 0 Posted June 17, 2009 i dont think your ram is "underclocked". Its original speed should be something like 266mhz with a multplier of 3. @ 752 it should be 2x376... at least it should have a multiplier of 2. Ram mhz and latencies have generally a very low impact on everyday use.

Ram mhz and latencies have generally a very low impact on everyday use. If his RAM is rated to run at 800Mhz, it is underclocked at 750. Doesn't mean it will affect performance in any way (Infact I know it wont) but its just not running at the ratd 800Mhz. Totally fine though. For best results, get your FSB running at a 1:1 ratio with your RAM. I.E) I run my e6750 at a FSB speed of 400Mhz with a multiplier of 8 = 3.2ghz. My RAM is set at a 2.0 multiplier meaning it is running at 400Mhz as well, or actually 800mhz because it is DDR2 RAM. (DDR2 = rated speed x2). Therefore, its running at a 1:1 ratio with my FSB. Intel chipsets wont let your RAM multiplier go any lower than 2.0, so if I wanted to OC my FSB past 400, I would either need to OC my RAM along with it, or buy 1066Mhz RAM. Pranne 10 Posted June 17, 2009 Ok guys. Got my game yesterday. With the editor i made myself a nice sightseeing tour with a HUMVEE to look around! Graphic is awesome, and even so it performs somehow better than arma 1, which troubles my machine with even medium graphics.. Despite my machine is old, i can switch everything to very high except shadows and post-process, and it is fast enough to have a small shootout between me and a small troop of enemys. But of course - my machine won´t handle a 100-unit fight, iam shure.

echo1 0 Posted June 17, 2009 (edited) Would two 4870's be better than one 4890? No. One HD4890 should be more than enough unless you have a 30" screen. Plus, dual-GPU setups have all sorts of problems with them. i like intel because i havent had a problem with one, where amd i have had a few pcs die on me that had amds. It is very very unusual for a CPU to die unless you did something to screw them up, and since the odds of several CPUs dying spontaneously are about equal to you winning the lottery, I don't think that's what caused your computers to break. i7 is the new intel processor, its has 3 cores It has 4. They're basically going to be rendered obsolete (for mainstream use at least) in a few months when Intel releases it's Core i5 parts, so I wouldnt bother buying one now.
