Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.

Recommended Posts

If you were to put 2xHD4870s into that system, the slow-ish CPU would really limit their effectiveness anyway.

How would I know what kind of GPU my CPU can handle without hampering it?

A single HD4890 1GB would be good. And I'd put the price difference towards a faster CPU, the net performance gain would be much better compared to buying the dual GPU card.

After reading quite a lot of all this:

Please always give your resolution settings !

At best in your signature!

Even on my system AA2 runs fine on a 19'' (native resolution 1280 x 1024) monitor but doesn't on my 22'' (native resolution 1680 x 1050).

Performance decreases so much choosing higher resolutions.

Badly enough it's what is bad with a TFT-Monitor: Choosing something other than the native resolution gives a blurr effect.

EDIT: After upgrading from AMD 3800 X2 to AMD 6000 X2 and from 7600 GT to 9600 GT it runs more than fine !

Does anyone tried Xtreme G 190.15 for XP 32 drivers ?

I got a major performance boost in cities but I think it is for a cost of image quality on distance objects (something like a postprocess on high). Demo benchmark didn't show FPS boost but Fraps in campaign does. The gameplay in cities is also much smoother.

My specyfication is:

Q6600 @ 3.4 ghz

2 X 1 gb 667 memory

GF GTX 260 SP-216 Palit Sonic (OC)

Win Xp SP3

Nvidia 178.13 drivers (tried others, new and old but these seem to be the best for A2).

:)

An AMD/ATI HD4870 1GB + ArmA2 might just fit in your budget.

I currently have a crappy NVIDIA GeForce 6200 that I know cannot run Arma2. But I'm shopping around trying to get the best video card possible for my computer, which sadly is a agp which I have learned is now horrible. So im wondering if I were to buy the Sapphire Radeon HD 3850 Video Card, would I be able to run arma2, at least on all the lowest settings? My system specs would be:

Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 2.80GHz

CPU speed 2.79 GHz

Ram- 3GB

Microsoft Windows XP Professional

Sapphire Radeon HD 3850

(any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.)

You need an CPU with at least 2 Cores, an single-core CPU will not be strong enough to handle the AI.

Hi everyone.

Would a AMD64 X 2 6000+ with 4gb DDR800 and a 8800GTX graphics card run ArmA 2?

Yup, I know someone with a similar setup, just with an ATI HD4850 instead of the 8800GTX. Should be fine.

No point, you're really better off replacing it all.

That's faster than my machine, and my one runs ArmA II great with good graphics quality and FPS. You're good to go.

@Swe: Try a trial copy of Fraps... I really wonder why the benchmark didn't come with the game...

Whats the difference in a black edition processor and a normal one? Why would the black edition, while faster, be less expensive?
