This is game made for 18+, not to prevent kids from turning into trained soldiers but to get rid of annoying kids in multiplayer :p

I agree, that violent, crazy, horror-like games about psychopathic murderers shouldn't be played by a kids, but in the other hand: If people are willing to block access to the game, that gives opportunity to hurt an animal, or elder, or defenceless child, I am personally shocked that we still allow kids to live, since reality allows such opportunities. Even worse - in real world, it goes far further, and in fact you can really hurt someone. Therefore, why don't we just purge those little monsters, who are direct threat for our adult society. I say "Let's kill our children before they turn into a demoralised zombie with mentality of a psychopathic video game evil character who's not afraid of violence, blood, and consequences of a criminal activity!".

This is strange, this early packshot from a German distributor seems to be marked with 16+? (unknown ratingsymbol)

Could it be that they originally intended for 16+ but got rejected?

rate it 18+ by all means. if that means getting a better combat simulation experience that pulls fewer punches that so be it.

You may forget that there were quite some people contributing to the OFP modding community that were below the age of 18 a few years ago. As much as I dislike those guys commonly known as "CS Kiddis", whishing that a game doesn't fullfill the right standarts for being rated under 18 is in my opinion short sighted.

I grew up with OFP, and am glad that there was no law back then preventing me from getting it. Or at least, when I got it - no one asked a 14-15 year old kid for identification :).

Hopefully it is because the plot/scenario is so believeable and unnerving.

Personally I like my games family rated.

Although I enjoyed SOF and FEAR etc. Having to turn off my PC, in the middle of a game, everytime a child walks in for fear of giving them nightmares is a pain.

Teaching them foul language does not go down very well with the girls in my life either.

18+ ratings is only cool for 18-25 year olds in my opinion. People for whom being adult is still an exclusive club. Once you get past that phase, it adds very little for the inconvenience.

Gore, porn, bad language. It tickles my funny bone still, but I prefer if it isn't part of the package.

Anyway, I like the humor in the dialog seen on many of the screen shots. Reminds me a bit of BF Bad Company, which had a lot of good humor in it.(the rest of Bad Company, wasn't so interesting)

This worries me, as currently (due to some nut job Governor General in South Australia) we have no R18+ classification for games here. Anything deemed R18+ is automatically refused classification. I guess I'll have to purchase this from overseas :(

That's the problem, inconsistency, and treating games as if they're something only children play. Fear 2 is banned here due to excessive violence, which is rubbish, there are much more violent games that are completely legal to play.

Whether a game is refused classification or not seems completely arbitrary and up to whoever at the ACB reviews it. These same people are apparently going to be the ones charged with controlling the internet blacklist if the Governments new net censorship plan gets through. If that happens I am moving abroad! :mad:
