Weapons Revealed

This may be old news to some people, but the weapons have been revealed, and rather inconspicuously, I might add. wink_o.gif

Some very interesting choices in there, specifically the Bizon and the XM8.

Here's hoping there will be a suppressed M21/DMR. wink_o.gif

Hi, i don't understand why they've made a WW-II M1911 A1 instead

of some modern M1911 pistol, also i don't understand why they haven't

made any modern russian pistol but a WW-II or Korea's war makarov,

also i don't get why only M-1014 and the Shaika while we know that

the russians use a Mossberg 590S look alike shotgun and most of the

Marine units keep using the Remington R870 or the Mossberg 590S.

Also i don't know why they've added a M-24A1 to the Marines, when

they don't use it, they use the Remington M-40A1/A3; i don't know

too why not RPK-74M or Pecheneg for the russians or why long

barrel M249s for the Marines, and not ACOG sighted M240B.

What they've called M14 DMR is what the whole world knows as:

M14A1 (with a Leupold it's called: M14A1-DMR) instead make/add

a M14-DMR and/or a M-21. Really, see all this it's very sad for me,

i think that they could had made it better with the weaponry; i

fear the worst. Let's C ya

Man I can see it, in the future there will be shotgun mods for Arma 2 biggrin_o.gif and M14 mods biggrin_o.gif

I like the weaponry a lot, some nice pieces there. Personally I would have liked to see some more old or "civilian" weapons for the smaller factions. Like an old SKS that was still on grandfathers attic or more hunting rifles/shotguns. Also some G-3 or FN-FAL would have been nice for NAPA, but I guess in a geographical area with so many AK's around this would simply be unplausible. Overall I am pleased with what is shown.

Some questions:

Which of the static weapons are movable? Especially mortars or ATGM. Are they disassembable? Are the larger pieces towable by vehicles? How is ammo supply handled for artillery and mortars?

From the describtion it looks like some of the rocket launchers are disposable, can this be confirmed?

And why the xm8  crazy_o.gif I would rather see a 6.8 after what went down in Iraqi.

I'm glad that BIS were creative enough to place the XM8 in the game - that is a very bold decision for a market founded on realism, but it shows that the people developing this are humans too. biggrin_o.gif

Hopefully, there will eventually be an (official) suppressed M21.

Good points there, wipman. There could be a "modern" variant of the M1911 included in ArmA 2. I heard on a website/interview that each weapon has multiple variants. As for the Makarov, I have no idea.

I don't understand why the XM8 rifle is included in ArmA 2. Wasn't it cancelled over several years ago? Wouldn't make sense to have it in the game. Might as well include the OICW.

Regarding the artillery, the description on the official ArmA 2 website says that the M119-A1 howitzer is air-movable. If BIS knows this, they could've incorporated it into the game.

Plus, it has wheels. wink_o.gif

Xm-8 is a cool weapon, unlike bold OICW. I am sure they implented it to show us, it's all gameplay :P

and there are possibly few prototypes on the field during the campaign. who knows.

I would really like to see troops able to move the mortar systems around. Make it so you have to take it apart to move it one section at a time.

Mortar Assembly: 35 pounds (15.89 kg)

Bipod: 26 pounds (11.80 kilograms)

Baseplate: 25.5 pounds (11.58 kilograms)

Sight Unit: 2.5 pounds (1.14 kilograms)

Total: 89 pounds (40.41 kilograms)

Really hope the mortars are moveable. I think they are tbh. Would be weird otherwise.

Shotguns are awesome. Make some units in a CQB team use them. Pure awesomeness. smile_o.gif And the DMR is very nice indeed.

Caaaaaaan't see that happening somehow.

Would have been nice to see the 155mm M-777 howitzer.

But then it'll be even nicer to see how BIS give us hard coded artillery.

Plus the 105mm is a derivative of the Light Gun.  biggrin_o.gif

Nice, finally some working artillery, this will completely change tactics.

But i hope they simulate the G36 like it works in real life, been able to use the 1x red dot sight and the 3.5 zoom. It´s the best rifle in the world imo.

And I agree with most people, implementing the XM8 prototype weapon into a realistic game isnt a wise decision. Hope that it will be very very rare, especially in online games.

Hi the XM-8 availability in MP games will depend on the mission

maker; it's nice to have such uggly weapon in game, but i hope to

not see it on the campaign. They could have made various H&K 416s

and some ACOG sighted M14s and M1A1s Scout & SOCOM-II, but

instead they seem to have chosen to don't be accurate on the

weaponry that the main factions have. Let's C ya

Did you notice that new weapons are slowly added?

For sure there were added: kord, strela and (not sure: ) CZ 550 and RPK

mortars and arti is great!

xm8 is a bit of a strange decision. a bit of recycling that's out of place. rather have seen hk461/417 as that is in use by various elements of the US military. but anyway.

thanks BIS for great reveals! and lovely weapons.

really hope that the way the weapons work is much better simulated - so the weapons feel as realistic to use as they look.

this should be very important for the ultimate ultimate combat simulator

I just love the the Stgw90 (Sig550 swiss military) it's just a little sniper rifle with perfect controllability, nice handling and light weight....

It's like pull the trigger and you hit what you aim for (i got some short distance, 300m, "combat training" and scope experience)

And i'm so curious how other rifles feel to shoot, i just got the military experience.

The Sig 750/751 is a 7.62x51 conversion of the 550 series, kind of a M110 style rifle. notworthy.gif

But where is the reason for the game to have this....
