in my addon VIBI that functions since... half year (almost)

there is T72 BIS but with NSV replacing DSHK (iin rel life DSHK was mounted on T55, but T72 were mostly with NSV)

also there is T72B+ERA for Soviets

so such model is in VIBI addon and newest VIBI will be released for P85 (with new BMP-1, Bradley, damage textures, textures updated and crew variants)

I see you STILL are using the original Interceptor vests model in your US units? the only thing that6 exposed that thing is the neck cover, without it, I would even know about that, but the vest is still using the Interceptors model, right?

sorry if I am wrong whistle.gif

Is there going to be separate version of NSV? as infantry HMG.

Either that or a UK vehicle which is more likely.

I would love to see a M60 for the US side before more other armies stuff gets added.

When looking at the back of the vehicle i would definately say it´s a Leopard.

Also look at the pic name tounge2.gif

Would be nice to seem some 1985 era UK infantry as the army used some pretty interesting pieces of kit back then. :-)

I hope it is a Leopard. W. German Bundeswehr is an obvious

first choice for a NATO ally of the USA. They did, after all,

constitute the next biggest NATO force in Europe after the

USA.

Bundeswehr from that period had a very interesting aspect

(this was before the days of that Waffen-SS "flecktarn" they

wear nowadays). I was always struck by how "Wehrmacht"

they still looked (in fact we always used to call them

"Wehrmacht", which often pissed them off for some reason...).

In 1985 they'd just finished a major reorg that turned them

into a pretty formidable mechanized force.

Since there seems to be a lot of LWP stuff in this mod too

then Danish NATO troops are the next obvious. The Polish

army would have played a minor role in any conventional war

in europe in the mid-1980s. They'd more likely have been

involved in peripheral operations like the invasion of Austria or

Denmark - where in both cases they'd have faced mostly

Bundeswehr and Danish troops (W. German II Korps in

Austria - 4 Divisions; Airborne, Mech., Armd, and Mountain -

and W. German 6th Mech. Div in Schleswig-Holstein together

with Danish regulars and the Danish 51st Home Defence

Brigade).

To the poster who suggested M60 tanks for the US forces;

By this time the M60 was issued only to National Guard and

Reserve tank battalions. Out of about 1,750 tanks in active

units in Europe, only 200 were M60s (part of US 8th Infantry

Div.). An M48 Patton tank would be useful to represent the

W. German territorial armoured battalions, though.

True, the mid-1980s were a time of transition. Lots of hard

lessons learned from the fraccas down South in '82, new

tactics and doctrine, new weapons on trial - the Enfield

SA80 "Endeavour" and "Engager" ("Stoppage!"), new plastic

helmets, new webbing coming in, new vehicles (MCV-80

Warrior, Chally 1, Tracked Rapier, Saxon etc), new boots

("Boots, Crippling, High, Mk1"), shite '84 pattern combat

dress with all the warmth, durability and comfort of toilet

paper ("cough and the pockets fall off"), huge fire at

Donnington in '83 destroying millions of quid worth of kit, a

much more relaxed attitude to the use of private purchase

kit and modifications in many battalions and the list goes on..

The British mid-1980s infantry from the "Spearhead" project

will likely be compatible with these addons (or could easily

be made more so, if there is any demand for them). No need

in "Project 1985" reinventing the wheel - especially when

they don't really know or really care very much about that

particular sort of wheel, and when they still have the whole

rest of NATO to do (where are the W. Germans? the Dutch?

the Danes? the Canadians? etc)

The NVA infantry were interesting since they were unusual

among WP troops in habitually wearing a cam net over

their helmets. At that time, the Soviets and other NSWPF

were apparently only just starting to learn to cam up their

helmets (maybe as a result of lessons learned in 'Ghanners?).

Thank you! I posted it because it is a nice polish MI picture... I'm not asking for units in parade uniforms, don't worry! smile_o.gif

I really like that pics... Soldiers and BTR's, look great! But, do you know what they carry in their strange leather bags? wink_o.gif

Ok, good day!

And its not leather, its more some rubber/plastic stuff.

Many things come in that, for example RPG bags.

We had a strange habbit of using plastic for every crap in the DDR back then "Plaste und Elaste!"... even for the cars as the Trabant shows.

Polish troops had such ideas too, plastic bags for gasmasks as "rain proof" :]

Pretty good so far, however the m21 as shown in the screens above has a modern scope mount, not a cold war era one.

Here's a nice reference site on an m21, not much to read but few good pictures though.

Once more Vilas post is rather missleading because he mixes pics of P85 weapons with some from his standalone packs.

Guess in future P85 weapons should get a (P85) marking or somethign on the pics.
