POTS 0 Posted February 27, 2009 Lets add some trails! With this amazing vegetation and area why not add some hiking trails or patrol trails through the woods and hills. They would make great battle areas and ambushes. The possibilities are endless for mission makers when you add trails, especialy the immersion level. I haven't seen any trails mentioned for arma2. I mean, couldn't you just imagine, your patroling or hiking on a trail through the woods and you come in contact with hostiles. You flee to the sides of the trail and take cover, maybe behind some tree or boulder. The micro-ai kicks in and your under suppresive fire. The cracks of the bullets rush by you through the tree's. I'm getting a little carried away, but this realistic element seems to be missing. EDIT: http://www.armedassault.info/ftp/pics/news/pics1/ArmA2_ingame7.jpg This is what really got me thinking about trails, i sort of imagined him walking on one and realized, what if that was no longer imagination. Spetz 0 Posted February 28, 2009 some remote dirt paths would be nice, but i hope they are not random like in ArmA 1, or like OFP where in Nogova there was a part that went from road to dirt then road again.
dentist guba 0 Posted February 28, 2009 dirt trails for vehicles work. however, currently soldiers are like some kind of super all-terrain vehicle in this game, there are no penalties (e.g. speed) for walking off a path so ambush missions wouldn't really work as people just sprint in a straight line for 10 minutes to get where they are going. It can be done though, as vehicles get a speed penalty from going off road, it should be possible with men.
Uziyahu--IDF 0 Posted March 6, 2009 Yeah, that is badly needed. Soldiers would normally prefer to be ordered on a forced-march on a road than through a swamp.
dentist guba 0 Posted March 6, 2009 at the moment troops are a bit like rambo, they can sprint across uneven terrain for 200 km's
