Me too and anybody else who has that combo, until BIS patches it up( suma say he has a fix) run in -window ( which kills your multigpu) or limit the Systeme ram to 3 or 4 gigs, by going thru msconfig, boot, advance, maxmen.

Mate had same issue, and my rig is identical to yours, your could either run it in a window, or just use msconfig and enable and disable the ram which is what i did, untill 5 gb of my 8gbis not being used any more and i cant reenable it through msconfig just says i've only got three now, even when windows picks up all 8, any hoo, be warned it may cause you problems in the future, but good luck with it.

9.2s have been (knock on wood) stellar with my CFX set up, on v64.

I am using Crysis.exe as my CF profile.

Jeza if you want your memory back you could just use ''restore'' (or something like that) so it can bring it normal. I had same problem before i do so. yay.gif

What kind of game developer creates so many problems with top-end hardware wink_o.gif. It's Bohemia Interactive. Don't expect great and solid fps overall with that configuration because BI cannot optimize the game properly. It's poorly coded. I'm not even going to bother trying ARMA with my core i7 setup. BI you fail big time.

Very helpful comment, trolling again?

My x58 chipset and quadFire are killing this game now, Thats with the limitation with my vidcards and v64 and "only" 3gig usage.

I would say every PC game is "poorly coded" in one way or another( DICE and Bat.field, Crytec Crysis, ect ect).

Yeah v64 and maxmen in boot/advance can SHOW wacky amounts, do to dual or tri channel configs,, non issue. When you "need" your eight gigs its there, after you change it back, it (vista) just doesnt show it at times..?

Wait, if you havent tried the game on your high end hardware, how do you know it wont work on it?

And top-end hardware generally equals new hardware, which equals hardware which doesnt have stable drivers for it. And incidentally, how exactly do you expect a three year old game to have perfect support for hardware that wasnt even conceived at the time (all while running on the worst operating system known to mankind since Windows 95)?

Quote[/b] ]It's poorly coded.

Really? How did you get your hands on the source code to study it?

EDIT: I'm running ArmA at 1600x1200 on high settings on a Athlon X2 3GHz and a 9600GT on 64-bit Windows (Albeit 7 Beta as opposed to Vista), and haven't noticed any slowdowns. I think the original poster has just hit the problems that occur with HD4870X2s and ArmA.

kklownboy, no you're trolling. Making up systems which you don't have for fun wink_o.gif. Everyone knows that ARMA doesn't take advantage of 4 GPU's. This thread is ultimate fail and the hardware knowledge of the BI community rofl.gifrofl.gif .

Because Armed Assault is a POS. The only reason I still am in the BI community is because I am awaiting ARMA 2 and if it is horrible compared to OFP2 then I am boycotting BI. End of story.

Yea it's the worst operating system since windows 95. Stop complaining , I love Vista and have no problems with it. If you can't run it well then it's you're fault no need to blame it on the operating system.

hello? everyone?  and your link to said info?  ARMA absolutely uses 2,3 or 4 gpus.. Your complete lack of understanding the issue, and your constant trolling in this forum..

Not as much as the trolls who make up system specifications. Yea ARMA uses quad-fire (properly called CrossfireX) wink_o.gif. Actually you're a constant troll because you like to brag about how fancy you're system is with you're 4870 X2's when all that is just words. You're utter fail really. Go back to Worshipping Bush and Obama or go do something productive other than steal peoples money and cause economic crisis.

Funny. Are you the same Universal who keeps boasting about his dual HD4870X2 system with a Core i7 965? The one who also claimed he bought two GTX295s "just to test them out"? Seriously, this is the troubleshooting section. If you aren't prepared to help people's problems, stay out of the way until you can. Someone should lock this thread up if there's nothing more to be done to help the original poster.

Going back onto topic - Lolmaster, I assume these problems only apply to ArmA?

Actually that was a typo it's dual 4850 X2's. The scaling is better overall than with 2 4870 X2's but I've decided to stick with Quad-SLI GTX 295's for futureproofing. I'm actually using a i7 920 as I just found that the difference(performance wise) and overclocking wise wasn't that great. My 920 is running 24/7 stable at @ 3.8ghz and I'm aiming for 4.0ghz. But I agree on one point you made and that is until we can find solutions to the original poster's problems then we can't really help. It's similar to what other posters encountered with 4870 X2's in a similar chipset configuration.

As ch_123 already said, if you have nothing to add that actually helps people solving their problems then stay outta the troubleshooting forum.

No one here cares what uber-l33t system you have. The rest is just the usual BI bashing.

Universal you fail big time.

I do not know what it's called in your Bios, but I've heard it is there.

Mine has an option in the Memory Controller area called "Memory Hole Remapping".

Enabled use all.

Disabled only uses half.

Mine being 4 tolal, and 2 if disabled.

ArmA originally started off with no issues.

Nvidia driver updates (17*.**) (which finally let my SLI work with Vista64 in Sept07' )... caused me to have run ArmA (and a dedi on same box), with only half of my memory or mine loaded with the black/grayed out screen. I really do not see/feel any difference with 2gig.

I believe it was ArmA patch 1.12, that turned things back around, and enabled me to use all memory (Thanks, Suma).

Suma has mentioned of your known issue, and should have it cured with the 1.15 full patch, when released.

As to Universal and his suggestion......I say, you should have waited for the Phenom II @4ghz on air......then you could enjoy Armed Assualt!

Here are my system specs.

780i evga mobo

4gb ram

q6600 2.4 quad

500g hd

evga gtx 260

vista 64 bit

I currently run arma patch 1.14 with no problems at all. I run resolution at 1900x1200 with all the settings on very high and view distance about 4000 and get around 40-50 fps. I would think that anything above 4gigs of ram is probably gonna give you problems. I hope this helps some.
