NOTES

Yes this does include a replacement pack, and it is signed.

I would love to update these units, but I am very new at this. Please, if you want to help in making future releases even better, PM Me. I'll be glad to listen!

Also, please post constructive criticism. These aren't the best units and probably have many problems.

Looks good biggrin_o.gif Now we only need a good afghanistan map. Something like the Korengal valley or something similar.

Damn... I just realized I should make an addon pack simulating my old Army Reserve engineer unit.  Most of the faces will be hispanic and all the Sergeants will have huge beer bellys. The pack will also feature a hot but always pregnant female Supply Sergeant and a "gut truck" selling fresh tacos that always follows the unit to training areas.

In Iraq I think they had an Arab version of the gut truck selling Arab tacos (shwarmas).

That would be the ultimate US Army addon!

True citizen soldiers! Hoooah!

I'm actually dead serious...I will make such an addon pack if someone lets me use their ACU textures and models that I will then modify.

I'd just need some to help me make the "Gut Truck" from scratch.

Wow, thing is. I'm in the national guard and....none of my SGT's have beer bellies, and we don't have a hot but always pregnant supply SGT   whistle.gif

LOL!

Then you are lucky and must have some hardcore PT.

Actually to be fair my old unit's standards have gone up since they were deployed to Iraq, however some of the old fat asses are still there as they tend to be in critical positions that are hard to replace.  Replacing an E-7 with 20 yrs of experience with an E-6 who rapidly got his E-5 and after deployment rapidly got his E-6 rank, is often a bad idea.  Although this is indeed what is happening slowly but surely.

The nickname of my old unit was "The Mexican Army" as it was about 80-85% hispanic...the rest white and black (and the occasionaly Asian).

...and yeah our Supply Sergeants were always female, generally fairly hot, and almost always pregant.  Banging other NCO's in the unit probably didn't help with that.

At any rate....  yeah usually once in-country (Iraq/Afghanistan) for awhile on active duty, the beer bellys start to get smaller.  However if your NG unit is stateside and still overall without beer bellies then either you guys got young fresh rapidly promoted NCO's or your unit has amazing leadership and innovative methods of keeping the troops in good physical fittness (difficult when you drill only once a month aside from AT).   Is your NG unit Spec Op capable?  Reserve and National Guard units falling under Special Operations command (like Psy-Ops) tend to have much tougher PT requirements and are constantly going through all kinds of training schools.  But likewise if you guys are infantry, with plenty of Iraqi war veterans then yeah I imagine that PT standards are high.   Keep in mind that the vast majority of Army Reserve units are support units (including my own although it is a front line engineer unit) while National Guard units are most often infantry units that can be deployed for wars or natural disasters.

However with that said, PT standards are largely reflective of leadership and morale.  In reality regardless you will get deployed as long as basic readiness criteria are met.

The reason that the link was disabled is because I accidentally used some of Jonny's models and textures with no knowledge that they were his. He asked me to disable the download link, and fix my units. So I did.

if you talk about CMD, Johny (hmm how could you not know what model you open? ) than what is yours in those models

i remember you have very basic knowledge (copy-paste on M4) and this addon, what is difference between them and released addons by CMD ?

other patch on arm cause i am trying to spot differences ?

i am not US modern army specialist so i don't have idea what is difference

and maybe as people made special forces , in future you can do regular Army units

cause people make Special Forces, not usual regular soldiers

and maybe you can clarify differences in gear, equipement, helmets between special forces, regular army, paratroopers, cause as i see you made paratroopers with "mitch" helmet?

honestly the only difference between them and persay the 101st airborne troops would be the patch on the shoulder. Even thought hey are an actual "airbirne status" unit we all use the same gear across the board. Especially once deployed on the ground in Iraq, Afghanistan, Horn of Africa etc......

Well anyways man great job on the 173rd Airborne patch. Its cool to have more US Army units...

More variety equals more immersion: Active Duty Divisions:

82nd Airborne ID, 2nd ID, 3rd ID Mech, 4th ID, 25th ID, 1st Armor Div, 101 Air Assault ID, 1st Cav Div, 10th Mountain Div (Light Infantry).

@villas:

Advanced Combat Helmet (ACH) is based on the MICH

design and provides an improved helmet to soldiers, replacing the older PASGT(Kevlar). It provides increased 9mm bullet protection. Comes with pad suspension system and the four-point chinstrap. Primary users: Army.

Lightweight Helmet (LWH)was developed for the US Marines to replace the PASGT(Kevlar). Looks very similar to the PASGT, but has a four-point chinstrap built-in and is about 6 ounces lighter. Originally it had a web suspension system and being upgraded to padded suspension. Primary users: Marines and Navy FMF.

@vilas

Sorry, but with US Army ACU Units, everyone looks the same. Literally. We all wear the same camo, and generally carry the same equipment depending on your MOS. Depending on what the soldier wishes to carry (camelbak, oakley's, extra MOLLE webbings) etc. I wish that we could have more variety, but, that's how it is really done and I try to keep it as close to real life as possible smile_o.gif

so US forces have all the same in all formations ?

Bigstone told about 2 types of helmets ? ACH LWH, so where is Mitch used ?

as i understand LWH is this helmet which BIS gave to US Army in game ? so is it means that this is bug of wrong equiping ?

MICH is an older version of the helmet, the new ACH helmet is out.

Anyway, the units will be available for download again tonight. This time with edited LODS etc etc. They will not be as "Spiffy" as the previous, but hey, it's a start.

pretty much......

At least for regualr combat units anyways. the only differences would be Air Force JTACs special forces and such...

we are still issued the older helmets right up untill october of this year when i know our central issuing facility stopped giving them out. Everyone by now would have the ACH.

I guess you could not really blame BIS for this "bug"...

in 2002 i went to Afghanistan wearing LWH...

in 2003 i went to Iraq wearing LWH but half way thru the deployment the unit purchased MITCH helmets that not everyone got......

in 2005 i got a ACH and have had that 2 more times over...

so if you look back at the Arma develpomnet time table it would be easy for them to get confused.....

the equipmetn has evolved over the last 6 years to where now everyone should have an RFI issue to include full ACU MOLLE gear as i know our CIF issues it out standard.

BIS did mess up on that part, even though the BIS default US soldiers are way off when it comes to the helmet and gear, if the default BLUEFOR soldiers are suppose to depict US Army soldiers. I mean come on ACU covered PASGT helmet ACU uniform and CAMO vest?(Maybe transitioning times for a Reserve or Guard unit). In reality during the early part of OIF 2003-04 troops wore DCU covered PASGT kevlar helmets along with the DCU uniform and of course the camo vest, when the war progressed around 2nd quarter of 2005 the US Army began phasing out the PASGT with the MICH/ACH helmet as seen in this pic and they still wore the DCU all around, but notice the DCU vest:

Sorry guys I kind of gotten carried away. From 2006 to present yes ACU's replaced the DCU's and the ACU helmet covered MICH/ACH's are all in use now...Hope this helps...

Thats actually different per each unit....

here at the 101st we never had the DCU vest overseas. They started issuing then here in certain sizes and then after about 4 months everyone in the division turned them in for ACU vests.

by now the propper gear thould be ACH helmet, ACU uniform with full ACU MOLLE gear. even the damn cover on your goggles has to be ACU.

in 2005 when we replaced the Georgia National Guard in Iraq they actually had alot of guys with an ACU covered PASGT.
