72;1292024']How often have reviewers been correct? Critics and such. How often do they say something sucks and it didnt.
I think that the video proof speaks for itself' date=' doesn't it? And the video is [b']inclusive[/b] beta patch!!
72;1292024']This is ARMA and personally its the only game for me and it has always kept me happy. I KNOW ARMA2 will keep me happy as well. And i know it will be better than ArmA1

Of course, no doubt! But such a beginning doesn't really help to promote the game.

not really. there's quite a bit of negativity going on in here: http://hx3.de/community-161/arma2-ersten-eindr-cke-16237/.

professional reviewers are paid to take a game apart and focus on the bad stuff. after all, their readers expect to be informed of any reasons NOT to buy a game.

players, on the other hand, have a tendency to ignore the bad sides (at least for a short while) and focus on the good ones. after all, they've just forked over 50 bucks.

just saying. ;)

Yeah, thats okay. The bad thing is that a patch is coming out today, but a lot of ppl might read the negative stuff and say bai-bai to the game if they are not well-informed.

I'm sure the game's gonna shape up pretty soon. Luckily, this is only the german territory.

Is the game gold already for the June 19th release date? I hope they can HURRY and fix the major issues before this bad news spreads everywhere...

4/10.... I expected better...

Yep its all about damage control now.

Im sure BIS will solve this to 505, I just hope this first release dont have a huge impact on the sales.

Maybe a well design Demo will put everyone happy :D

Thats true, but its not my area of concern is it. ;) Thats BIS work. Their compay and their decisions. Im merely the customer here and that was my point with my post. That i know I will be happy with BIS product. Buggy start or not i know they will come through. They did before as far as im concerned at least. Ofcourse i also wish BIS all the best with ARMA2 - they know i do. :)

And im not the best with words so my points might be blurry.

@Ziiip : From the patch changelog it looks like a lot of problems will not be adressed in the patch.

Furthermore Marek said that : "Also, what is quite unusual is that some things happen completely differently every time I try a mission. I think the bugs do not kill the open nature of the game and that sheer scope, amount of content or beautiful country of Chernarus will more than compensate for these issues.

"

This has to be a joke right ? If things in the game do not work just enjoy the view.

The campaign will not really be improved with tomorrow´s beta patch but with the patch that is supposed to be coming next week:

"I believe we already went a long way since version 1.00 and that the upcoming patch 1 next week will improve the game heavily, especially the quality of the campaign. This version 1.01 is also what will be released in rest of the world. In late June we plan to release Patch 2, version 1.02 which should provide even more."

Cool... the next patch is expected to be finished end of June.

To be honest this is the same stunt as with Arma and this time I´m not going to polite anymore. This stinks !

Urgh, the only part i understood was that they gave it a 4/10.

That's the problem with either releasing a game without it's (seemingly) critical patch as well as a reviewer setting a score while knowing a critical patch is imminent. I've no idea where the blame lies but I don't trust any reviews that come before the patch.

LOL, Morphicon is just sweet!! :wave-finger:

Here they offer the Arma 2 download version. But after a year you can't download your game anymore, unless you pay 7,95 EUR. :yay: Yeah!!

Or is this common? Never did download a game.

Take your rantings to Morphicon. Here are the BI forums, not Morphicon.

How long you expect them to keep an 8GB Download for you? 2 years, 3 or maybe even 4? After all you can burn your download to DVD as backup.

:) I got it, thanks. :) Just was the anger about the controversial release, nevermind.

Hm, I'm not sure about it but it can be that the test was made with the patch already applied. The video definitely is with the patch, the editor says that at the beginning.

PC Action is for imbeciles and other 13-year olds anyway. Just look at their main site...

Pornstar Battle #7 - Lela S. vs. Lacey D.

:j:

In their preview they compare commanding of troops with Rainbow Six Vegas :icon17:

Also they state that the subtitles are not very good and "probably made by an underpaid (and surely ugly) female intern" (in German: "billig bezahlte (und sicherlich mordshässliche!) Praktikantin")

So much for mature journalism...

I'm not sad about the fact that readers of this magazine will NOT buy the game. That's clearly that kind of audience I would love NOT to see on ArmA2 servers! :yay:

I don't think a review is going to put off the real OFP/ArmA players here, is it?

I couldn't care if it was 0/10 - I know the game has potentional. SP may not be so good (so far!), but I play MP. When the ball gets rolling with a patch, tools and dedicated server everyone will be happy again.

There's always bugs in a game at first. Theres only so many system combinations of settings etc you can test to try and spot these things. I mean, Maruk's announced a patch already. Surely that's good. You wouldn't even remember playing with the bugs if its released within the month.

Looking forward to UK Release myself, a time machine would be good right now..

Doesnt sound good. Translation of what Mark is saying: "Yes, we released a half - finished buggy version AGAIN, but the other features of the game compensate for this. We expect you to put up with the bugs until we release patches ok?"

Dodgy - When a game is released retail, almost all the bugs should be fixed so that most users can enjoy the experience hassle free. I cant beleive BIS have done this again. WHAT the hell were they thinking?

I watched the first few seconds of that PC games video. Pity they focus on bugs instead of some proper gameplay footage.

Although seeing how they seem to love the 3rd person view, I'd rather see gameplay videos from someone else.

in ArmA 2, if i'm not mistaking it's suppose to have full vehicle door opening and closing animations/none gunner positions which the player could fire from, why is it that none of these things were shown in any videos? or maybe I'm missing something

Now a few words. I played now the whole night. Firstly i tried some things in the editor, had bad performance and crashed, my dissapointment was coming. But then i deactiveted SLI, because i had problems with it in another game and everything was goregeous! I tried all the guns and some vehicles, blew stuff up, chatted with some villagers, didn't understand him and stole his ride.

My specs are 2xGTX260 and a quad 2.83. I can play it with one quite nice, SLI doesnt want to work and there are some bugs, but the games is so different than Armed Assault. I needed a bit of time to begin to like it, now i don't want to stop playing (and it's the unpatched 1.0). At beginning it feels like a patched arma, but its major patch!

Now to the storys i lived through:

where's the guy with the m107?

Guntesting

(His Bike)

After that i was looking at my harrier and i crashed, it results in a nice wreck and dirt pile (much debree flying around, smoke settles slow, fire nicely done, trees weaving in the background :D)

(Landing)

"Weaponcrate" or how it is called is great too, the missions work mostly ;), there are many missions. Hunting is one of them: Hunt as many animals as you can.

my first one

The weather is great made too! (and the sky)

I played on and on and on, exploring like a little child :D

The AI seems to be swift, i got them at 0.7 something like that. Had many lon lasting firefights at distances 100-200m. For example hiding behind e house, they where coming and shooting at my cover, flanking both sides. (no time for screens!) I was flying wit the frogfood for quite some time (still weaponcrate, havn't tried much more jet)

(pic photobucket)

Someone wrote in a review that the game feels organic, i think this is the perfect description. But i didn't feel the vibes from the beginning ;)

Finally i shot down a Mi-17, couldn't dodge the wreck in the fire and smokeball, bailed out and landed in the trees.

(pic allso in Photobucket album)

If you liked the same things in Armed Assault, you would love ArmA2 like i do, but many people see a different thing in it. A game too big to be completed imho.

But if you get the 505 release and not a one day to early sold copy of ArmA2 like me, you will have it easyer. I think the style, the idea and the mood is perfect, it's just not all that pollished. But WTF, never so bad like the german pre review war thing. I would call that blackmail... I love the game! I find it even mor difficult to play than Armed Assault, more challanching.

BIS: I hope you enjoy these words, because i do enjoy your game.

(I hope this goes under "Latest ArmA2 Press Coverage", damn im tired! :D)

Have a nice day, good night!

The opening and closing were CGI videos in OFP2, we were never promised this or positions inside vehicles that could be fired from.

Oh we have ghillie suits? I never saw anything about that before but it's DEFINATELY a nice suprise, as is the ground pushed up from the harriers crashing.

Is that really "Very high" settings?

The dirt pile doesn't look too good... so does the whole background. The forest on the right hand side looks OFP1 style :(
