Area 51 'Groom Lake'

Area 51 - Proof of Concept Map - V0.97

This map is a very basic throw together thathas taken me about 1day ish so forgive me if it is not amazing, This map is majourly an ALPHA so it is not gonig to be any where close to done yet....

Great detail still needing to be done to it!

Anyways this is what I have got, Source Folder Included.

This a great map mate - plenty of hills to patrol, cool bases (without too many buildings, quick to load and lag free!

BK, just a thing I noticed - I tried an Area 51 night mission in the editor, and ArmA locked up - have you had this?

Unfortunately there is no plans to extend the Area 51 map underground.

This would either require editing the terrain.png, or creating a very complicated model in O2, I do not have the skills for that.

Unless somebody wants to make something to go underground there is now way as of now to do that..

I was going to send you a PM, but decided on a public message instead...

What tools do you have/use to make realistic maps?  I'm a complete mapmaking noob, but I'd love to be able to do what you do - realistic land areas that are mainly mountainous/desert and don't have large amounts of lag...

Any tips appreciated, I'd love to be able to make islands/maps like yours! notworthy.gif

I acquired my DEM Data for this map from here. I then used Google Earth Pro to get the Satellite Data, I used photoshop to convert and re-size it to the relevant specifications, I.E 1024x1024 pixels. I imported my DEM data into a program called 'VTBuilder' Google It! Using the data that I exported to BT Format, I then imported the .BT into Wilbur, and got my terrain.png from there, and then i was already to go!

Ok, Well me being rather stupid has accidentally swapped a color for another color in the Mask, Resulting in the runway's having grass growing on and threw them.

I will fix this in a future release.
