ArmA2 - The Xbox 360 thread

Recommended Posts

Here is a new gameplay vid that just came out. This proves (to me) that the game looks great despit what is being said about it.

Well considering the fact that the press is ripping the PC version of the game due to it's buggyness, we are probably a good ways off from getting the 360 version. I'm going back to sleep wake me up when it comes out!

Yeah its not looking good. Shame.

Doesn't sound any worse then the release of OFP and ARMA in regards to bugs. I think the majority of press are failing to see the bigger picture.

BIS have aimed so high and there will always be bugs in such a hugh open world game. Me for one would rather play such a game - with its faults - then some simple run and gun shooter any day...

I wouldn't worry anyways, I'd expect any major bugs to be ironed out in time - epecially by the time of a potential console release.

I'm not worried about the product just a shame that a rough PC start will probably mean a slower 360 release.

Well I have been looking at all the youtube vids of the gameplay and honestly it does not look like there are really any MAJOR problems with the game. I have seen SOME clipping issues like tank turrents clipping through the tank, or trees clipping the tank after they fall down when run over, but honestly in my opinion these are MINOR, MINOR issues. I think there are a bunch of overhyper people just nit picking this game to death to the point of missing the big picture which is, THIS GAME ROCKS! It looks awesome, and the gameplay is very solid overall, let's all lighten up and "ENjOY ThE GaMe" !

Well , just to say the xbox is not the same as a pc . their were problems with many games like gta for the pc while the xbox version was bug free , i have had a read of many post for the pc version, it seems to me they are mainly pc component related issue.

In any case the xbox version if made at this point would have far less bugs, i am still looking forward to a xbox release in the near future .

Yeah, how can we be sure its a 360 version? In all likelihood its an xbox controller connected to a pc, you can see how its plugged into the top. What 'xbox windows' are you talking about anyway? I guess i dont know exactly what that is...

Also, wikipedia now lists a 360 version on its sidebar

The former post was (seemingly failed)irony. There is no Windows for the Xbox 360 and judging by the lower right screen and the triplehead2go setup, it was performed on a PC.

Hi all

sparks50

The screen in the bottom right is the camera recording software, you can see the triple head display and the PC recorder on it, no ArmA II program is running on it that is visible. Gotcha!

I doubt very much ArmA II is running on the same machine as it is being used to make the video recording, ArmA II is really system intensive and so is hard disk video recording software, when I do it, I use a separate computer.

Spreading TV output across multiple screens is a hardware solution that has been available for decades.

I personally think it is running a PC as a triple head system but I do not see anything in the video that proves it is.

What I see is an XBox controller controlling the game play, there were several questions about how good this would work, in the thread and this video goes some way to answering them.

I pointed out that the system looked very good and expensive and wondered where it was running from.

Kind regards walker

Firstly, why is this thread still here? Extremely depressing that we're given false hope when clearly Armed Assault isn't launching for the Xbox any time soon, and if I'm honest, most likely never.

It would surprise me if we happened to end up with an Xbox version, given the current problems with the PC version and the struggle to find publishers globally.

Footage on YouTube claiming to be the Xbox version is complete nonsense, it's just the Xbox controller being compatible with the PC version on a powerful rig.

In conclusion, there's been no concrete proof of a console version, even though we had the "TBD" notification on the bottom of the official ArmA II page, which soon disappeared as the PC version was released. Screenshots or videos claiming to be the Xbox version, at this stage, are simply direct feeds off the PC or even screenshots which were released when it was in development.

I think the moderators need to consider removing this thread completely until there's some correct information on whether there's any plans for a console version, which if there ever was one, would be at least sometime next year.

Look's like a lot of console owners will be disappointed and have no chance but put the money in Codies pockets when Dragon Rising releases later this year.

Good post Phantom Fury.

First, both of you guys need to go back to codemasters forum and wait for OFPDR lol or any REAL INGAME information and game footage lol.

If you do your homework and read what BOHEMIA has stated multiple times about a XBOX 360 game and the moderators gave reasons why no dates for release at this time. The moderators made this thread a Sticky post for a reasons.

I will bet you a 360 game will be out around the same time as OFPDR, To much bad blood between BOHEMIA and CODEMASTERS for them to not fight for the bigger console market.

If the game is still this beta version with all the bugs and problems they won't find a publisher for the 360 anyway. I doubt that the game will pass the MS quality control which is necessary for all 360 games before they can be published for the console. I'm so disappointed by what I have seen so far. AI, controls, scripting - all broken. Really sad and if BI doesn't rework the complete game with their patches (which I doubt will happen) CM will have an easy win on the consoles (given that they don't fuck it all up, too).

I must ask you if you played the game yet.

If not, what videos are you looking at. After the first few hrs/days some bugs/issues were noted but the overall gameplay and game world looks FUCKING GREAT and plays better then any game on the market right now.

Remember this is not like most run & gun FPS this is more towards a simulator with the focus on a slower pace experience with team planning being the key not just fast reaction skills.

After the first patch what videos have you been watching that makes you feel this way. Because most of the videos make me say FUCK A this game rocks and I can't wait so I will upgrade my PC until the XBOX 360 version is released.

PS. I stoped playing PC games in 2005 when OFP for XBOX came out. 2005.

Sorry, but the videos I have seen/reviews I have read to this day are reviews that all used the patch and still say it simply doesn't work. I'm surely not bashing the game, but reality is far from being the great game I longed for. Let's wait and see what BI will do with more patches.

WHat you read.... what you heard.... well you read & heard wrong. The game is very playable and fun in its current state.

I was reading this on a forum and thought this was interesting,

The core i7 965 supposedly has 64 gb/s memory bandwidth. The Xbox 360 Xenon CPU by IBM has 51 gb/s memory bandwidth. So you think the Xenon would be slower right?

Well get this, one site I found stated that the Xenon has 115 peak GFLOPS, and another site only said 98 GFLOPS. Either way, that stomps the 51 GFLOPS that Intel's website says the Core i7 965 can do.

What really matters is that the Xenon only has to do one thing really well; games . the

ATI 'Xenos' graphics processor:

240 Gflops (programmable) + 697 Gflops (non-programmable)

only has to do one thing really well; games

The only real reason there are lot of performance problems ,this is because there are 1000s of possible pc systems that the game has to run on .

If everyone had the same pc nobody would complain .

Fixed specs is better quality games. Technical aspect that is, because the GAMEPLAY has nothing to do with hw (aside from kb, mouse, controllers stuff)
