Spawn Points

I know I'll probably get shouted down here!! :P But I would love to see squad leaders be spawn points for their sqauds, this would keep the squads together to keep their leader alive, if you do die, the squad is not broken up & it won't take ages to get back to the fighting.

This I believe would open up ARMA2 to a whole new lot of people who were put of ARMA because it took forever to get anywhere & when you got there you promtly died!

I wouldn't be against this being an option configurable by the map maker.

I wouldn't want to see it on ctf's, but on coops I wouldn't mind, even if I prefer the "squad" respawn option already available.

It already IS up to the mission maker where things spawn.

Whether it be a pre-defined location on the map, or an object/unit. Its all done with scripting.

It's not used much? Is there a squad leader spawn point option then? If so what mod is it and what servers run it?

I only play single player campaign & the evolution type with friends so I have quite a limited knowledge of the other types available for online play smile_o.gif

It can be done with scripting. It's in if the mission designer implements it wink_o.gif It's mission dependent not server dependent, so you'll have to find (difficult) or make a mission with it in, or ask someone to.

I wouldn't mind a COD style of spawning for some TDM games (you spawn at your group, regardless of squad leaders). I know it's unrealistic, but I think it would be good to have, along with the realistic (er) "bullet in head = 5 min wait for restart". It would mean dynamic battles/firefights around towns/forests/rivers etc, even fighting across the entire map, with one side being relentlessly pursued!

i would be in favour of some COD style multiplayer modes in the game, at the very least it would keep all the t'k ing idiots in one place LOL. some sort of squad based team deathmach with this spawning could be fun to do in between serious stuff. if the game doesn't come with it i guess someone else could just make it though.

This feature (as said) wouldn't be too difficult to integrate into a mission, writing it via scripts.

The harder part would be writing a game mode which could use this type of spawning. IE, writing a COD style territory control or TDM mode which used this sort of spawning. I don't think the usual Arma modes could benefit much, though maybe someone would want to hack this into Evo for the evolution crowd...

Certainly this is already possible in ofp or arma 1 though. smile_o.gif
