A while ago you promised to post a list of the allied kit

you're planning. Are you still going to give us that?

You seem to have a lot of Jerry armour in the works. Have

you got a good P.I.A.T. model for the British infantry to

use? Want me to make you one?

Isn't that a pak41/43?

I had planned on a 88 if you're asking.  It may be possible in the future to include a scheunentor.

Oh and yes the Jagdpanther is playable already.

British Paras.  D-Day British 6th Airborne Division aka Red Devils.

Ok wasn't sure which ones he was refering to. The british paras I'm sure will come along the way somewhere. I don't have them in my sights just yet, but maybe we shall see. I know there is a gentleman that would probably be interested in working on them and making it happen. But it's hard right now considering school is in. I've got kids myself to tend to.

That's got me thinking...what about glider landings?

A campaign as a member of GPR would be cool. Crash land

your kite (trying to avoid going arse over tit), let the chaps

go off and make trouble, then grab your Sten and go off and

bag some Jerries. Wonderful! biggrin_o.gif

Pegasus studio's latest addition to the mod includes this beautiful panther and paint variant.  Credit goes to Atomic for his fine efforts.  This tank has a way to go yet.  I've got a bunch of work to do on it.

Is that Zimmerit on the gun barrel of the first one (or

chicken wire for attaching camouflage)?

I hope you're going to give these the correct gunsight optics.

It'd be a shame to just give them the lousy default ArmA

optics. Even better if you could calibrate them corectly so

you can use them to measure the range. WIBNI you could get

the AI crew to call out the engagement sequence correctly

too:

'Panzer -- dicht bei Kaffee

1050 -- Gen'ral Sherman

6 Strich Vorhalt -- rechts ein zweiter

fertig - Schuss *Boom!* -- die fahr'n nicht weiter..."

It's Chicken wire on the gun barrel, there is Zimmerit on the tank but it's hard to see without the normal map applied.

it might need tweaking to be a bit more prominent but i can do that a little later if needed.

as for new command and tank chatter etc.. it would be great but I'm no coder so wouldn't have a clue how to go about it.

Has anyone got round to changing the Ingame default audio yet?

just a quick question my german is rusty at best but isn't Kaffee - Coffee?

Yes, it's coffee. German tankies used to try to position

themselves to maximise the effect of their armour. In

effect this meant that they preferred to present themselves

at an oblique angle to the enemy in order to offer a sloping

armoured surface to the enemy gunners.

As a shorthand they named the four best angles after

meal times. In training they used the hint "Mahlzeit"

(meaning  "mealtime" or, colloquially, "bon appetit") to

remind themselves to take notice of this.  "Kaffee" was

at about the 4:30 position (because about 4:30 in the

afternoon was usually "coffee time"). Here's an illustration

from the 1943 "field manual" for the Tiger I:

mahlzeiten.jpg

"Mahlzeit" was also of significance in determining the

best angle to attack enemy tanks from.

Edit: [very] Loosely translated the little rhyme says:

"At mealtimes - even with a 6 inch gun -

the most they can do is scratch you.

For the enemy it's horrible,

but for you it's great, mate"

i see,

makes sense that they would position the tank to offer the crew maximum protection from incoming rounds.

but never knew they did it with "code words"

some of the stuff you know,no matter how obscure never fails to impress me.

are you a historian? or just someone that is really interested in tactics and the ww2 time frame?

*EDIT*

going a bit off topic,

a little bit of on topic posting i'll be working on 2 versions of BF109 textures. One for the 1941 "battle of Britain" and another for the 1944 Invasion time frame (some variants as well possibly)
