With all the lettering white, although the highlighted action is brighter, it is still white. Response time could be quicker if the selected action was a different color. See CSL UI Mod or here, which also allows you to make the various menus (main, action, command bar, etc) backgrounds either a solid/transparent colour plus various colours.
