The-Architect 0 Posted April 23, 2008 Could we have a glossary of all the terms in ArmA? For instance, what is FOV etc? Post all you know.
OrLoK 20 Posted April 23, 2008 Hello all This may be a tricky one. Do you mean the terms that the programmers have used within the game or terms that we in the community use with regards to the game or just general terms that folk are using on the board? FOV = Field of view btw. Btw = by the way btw. Diff folk use alot of different terminology when refferring to ingame things. I for one use "NME" as a short code for enemy when typing. and as far as I know thats really only me. So if you can be a bit more specific that'll help. Guest RKSL-Rock Posted April 23, 2008 A few to be going on with and an answer to your question: FOV = Field of View Geo = Geometry LoD concerned with collision detection and mass/handling. LoD = Level of Detail PoS = (1) Position eg "driver_pos" selection get in points in a model. Â (2) Piece of Shit - colloquial insult. POV = Point of view ROF = Rate of Fire RVMAT = Material files. Â Small text file that contains settings for the use of materials on models. Â Defines the normal and specular maps values etc. NOHQ = files extension for an ArmA Normal map. Makes 2D textures appear 3D. SMDI = files extension for an ArmA Specular map. This defines higlights and "shine"

Col. Faulkner 0 Posted April 23, 2008 I for one use "NME" as a short code for enemy when typing. How about trying "en" as this is a standard HM Forces abbreviation? I'm sure this is what Brigadier Lethbridge- Stewart would have used (reference your U.N.I.T. sig' Â ). Faster to type too. Â To address the OP: NM = "Normal Map" Â Â ? OrLoK 20 Posted April 24, 2008 hello all I think the Brigadier would be happy  if its just Sla rather than the cybermen (cb?) or the master ( BIG M?) There are some abbreviations also like.. cc or rgr (roger) which means yes or i agree depending on the situation. Although I have heard cc is a ww2 signal. can you confirm Col. Faulkner? Nice to hear NM is also a code. Rgds LoK also S! ...is "salute" but I dont see it used so much anymore, but its a greeting as well as a sign of respect. GG = Good game GL = good luck TTFN is ta ta for now (another old unused one) oh while i think about it afk is away from keyboard. I could go on and on. IMHO = in my humble opinion LiS = Lok is sexy (often used) I have a feeling this thread could get quite long...
