twisted 128 Posted November 14, 2008 So far ArmA2 looks like a re-skin of OFP that requires a NASA supercomputer (for the graphics alone). And OFP was a long time ago.ArmA 2 DESPERATELY needs AI far beyond the ability of OFP. I watched some YouTube video of ArmA2 AI "improvements". What a sick joke! The AI lines up in the middle of the road, same as OFP. Stupid! I read about AI parking vehicles beside the road. Who cares? The AI must be able to seek the closest cover and to shoot from it. Not occasionally, as if by chance. All of the time. It needs to be able to suppress and be suppressed. The AI needs to be able to perform CQB at a reasonable level. The AI needs to be able to garrison buildings and otherwise dig in. Infantry in bunkers/trenches/foxholes should be an inherent part of ArmA2 (native, without modding). This lying down in the open stuff was forgivable in 2001, but definitely not now. The AI should have access to assets like UAVs, arty, air, etc and be able to call them against enemy forces, without scripting (other than the mission maker designating what is available). AI should occur at a platoon to company level. The effects from incoming fire should be more complex than hands hit/legs hit/lose some HP. A 2 minute fire-fight should not result in 100% casualties for 1 team. Morale and close-combat should be a factor. Medevacs should be necessary and should mean something. And as for the new revive system, why not add some wizards with Pheonix Down? a big YES to all these suggestions. these would make the game have an extra dimension really badly needed. arma feels barebones basic - it needs to have inspiration in features that make the experience immerisve. POTS 0 Posted November 15, 2008 Just to let everyone know, arma2 is supposed to be more efficient than arma1. This means it requires less of a computer than arma1. The only new thing you need to run it is a dual core minimum. Which I think is a good thing because i'm sick of those old p4's. I heard that the computer he used to run arma2 on in the previews only had a 8800gt. I think he nearly maxed it out, and he had a good sized monitor, so that says a lot already. (8800gt is $120 right now)
Pulverizer 1 Posted November 15, 2008 X being more efficient than Y doesn't mean X requires less power unless the workload is a constant. Case in point, ArmA is more efficient than OFP.
Michael_Wittman 0 Posted November 16, 2008 I would like to see realistic damage system...30mm ammo should not damage tanks if they hit the front. Realistic weapond damage...its not the same a haedshot with a m16 than a .50 CAL spray (that would tear a body apart) or say...the massive blast of a 120mm shell (that would definetely send flesh and bones in all directions). 7 0 Posted November 21, 2008 1. atleast a somewhat realistic targeting system for choppers/planes (no more pressing tab to auto lock onto vehicles you cant even see. PLEASE) 2. vehicles not exploding when theyre disabled 3. a cleaner HUD.
Mr Opteron 0 Posted November 21, 2008 I would like to see a template for each type of weapon so the modders have something to work with they seem to be struggling for a BTR 80 and flight sime fans would love  realistic flight simulated aircraft. If the graphics stayed the same as ARMA and the AI was 8x more realistic it would own any other type of combat sim no matter how good the graphics were. Realistic Mortar Mobile Mortar carried by soilder Realisic Artillary used by Ai Realisic AI Aircraft dropping bombs the way they should be. AI troops that use the terrain for cover. Destructable Vehicles and components like seen in IL-2 Sturmovik. proper armour physics. Two large Islands with massive space between so aircraft have plenty of sky to fly in. proper armour physics. lugiahua 26 Posted November 22, 2008 yep, players and AI should be able to fix bayonets or stab enemy with fighting knives You can not just simply say "There were not many hand-to-hand combat in modern warfare, so we don't need this ability in game" What if modders what to make a WWI, Korean War or Iran-Iraq mod? and there are still many low-tech armies/paramilitaries still using bayonet charges today... Inkompetent 0 Posted November 25, 2008 CCIP and/or CCRP bombing modes for fixed wing aircraft, so that we actually have a clue about where the bombs will land.
Second 0 Posted November 25, 2008 and there are still many low-tech armies/paramilitaries still using bayonet charges today... Yeah. British army as example

mr.g-c 6 Posted November 25, 2008 Shooting from the passenger seat.I remember that they said that it was going to be a feature, anybody has news about this? According to the Interview with Ivan Buchta, this feature as earlier commented by Suma as "most likely happen", was sounding rather like "most likely NOT". Even when it would happen, i rather tend to doubt that it means shooting from passenger seat or out of windows. I think its rather like from open hatches of Tanks, back of Trucks, or even MH6 outer positions. Of course it would be very cool to shoot from any passenger seat or even out of windows from cars, lets see what will be in Arma2. Seeing that Nvidia PhysX support, recently introduced in VBS2 makes it for me like seeing a wonder. So maybe everything is possible. Or maybe the say "Most likely not" to most of the features now, to have some surprises for the release.
