Flats76 0 Posted January 26, 2008 Am i correct in thinking Arma will not work with 4gb of ram or more?
Sosna 0 Posted January 26, 2008 Works for me If you have a 64 bit OS (I use XP Pro x64), and your motherboard can handle 4 GB, I don't see why it wouldn't work.
Rommel 2 Posted January 26, 2008 I currently run on 3GB and it runs fine, but also depends whether your OS can handle 4GB, presuming your running XP, you can only use 3.4GB anyway, but with Vista you should be right to go a lot higher. Questions like this go in the troubleshooting forum mate, atleast I think they do, won't be more then a few minutes till the mods move it.
wamingo 1 Posted January 26, 2008 Why wouldn't it work? I think a better question is: will it take advantage of all of it...

berghoff 11 Posted January 26, 2008 Should work but only game that comes close to using 4gb ram will be SC (largest map with max units ):P.
sickboy 13 Posted January 26, 2008 ArmA has a problem with Vista x64, 4gb ram and the 163.x and newer series of drivers (possibly only in conjunction with the Vista hotfixes for gamers). You can limit your memory to 3gb by software, and play anyway. Suma said he found the bug and squashed it, probably including it in the upcoming update. LtCmdrBoon 0 Posted January 27, 2008 it wont work with 4gb, Suma explained something to do with it counts it wrong and tells the game you have no memory at all. I tried and had to take 2gb out until this 1.09 comes out.
OL 0 Posted January 28, 2008 I play with 4Gb on XP x64 ok. -maxmem is set at 1024, as I think 2048 makes the game crash.

Doublepost :P Plus you dont have to pull 2GB out, but you can disable 1GB by software: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Troubleshooting_Vista
Radius 0 Posted January 28, 2008 I use XP64 with 4GB and that's it. I don't use the -maxmem stuff or any switches beyond -nosplash and everything works flawlessly for me.

Do you play mainly online or offline? The -maxmem command improves things massively for me when playing Evo online. Can anyone BIS confirm why larger -maxmem commands crash?
