Mapfact vehicles won't respawn properly

I've implemented the mapfact vehicles into a mission and I'm having a problem getting them to respawn the way I want them to.

The idea is to have a script running that detects if a vehicle is destroyed or not. If it is destroyed, the script removes the destroyed version and replaces it with one that is disabled so it can be recovered in place.

Maybe I did something wrong somewhere, but for the life of me, I can't make this happen with the mapfact vehicles. They either stay in the destroyed state or I can make them respawn where they originally were. I can't make them respawn in place.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm using the same code that is in Evolution to handle this.
