hikooki 0 Posted February 25, 2008 Very nice indeed, I love the WW1-era, not too many mods or game about it though. Just have to dust my old ofp-discs and get them up and running in Wine Can't wait for a release!
bennie1983nl 0 Posted February 25, 2008 What a hell must it has been those days. Shelling, shelling and MG-fire! STILL today modern French and Belguim army is busy cleanin up WW1 shells form almost 90 years ago. Some still filed with mosterd-gas!
hikooki 0 Posted February 26, 2008 By the way, will you include soldiers from the early part of the war, that is germans in Pickelhaube and french soldiers in their more colorful uniforms. Some pics: When the mod comes out I was thinking of making some scenarios, maybe a campaign, for the early weeks of the war before it really became a stalemate on the Western front. Some still filed with mosterd-gas! @bennie1983nl You have to go to Verdun at Fort Douaumont, I've visited the Fort 5 times, it's so awesome, there are no big trees and the whole area is covered with trenches and craters think about it, it was 90 years ago how you said, and you MUST follow the roads and signed ways because of granades who still lay there and are sharp, there`s also an unnormal big "bonehouse" ("Gebeinhaus", "crypt" am I right?) and that bonehouse looks like a big shell, and the creepiest thing is when you stand in front of an soldier memorial and you see hundreds of family names who are identical to yours, really spooky by the way here is a link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Douaumont (hope you could understand my spooky english ) And of course some links for ProfTournesol WW1 RUSSIAN IMPERIAL ARMY ARTILLERY SHOULDER BOARDS http://cgi.ebay.ca/WW1-RUS....hosting 1914 Russians (on the last pic at the bottom of the page you'll see a mortar crew) http://www.hat.com/Othr7/Sutton08P.html WW1 Russian heavy weapons set http://www.tracks-n-troops.com/Hat/HAT8080.jpg WW1 russian artillery crew (sorry no paint) http://www.bloodaxeminiatures.com/catalog/images/bx-007.jpg Russian artillery crew http://www.marxists.org/glossar....cia.jpg Austrian skoda guns http://www.suite101.com/view_image.cfm/160117 WW1 Austrian heavy weapons set http://www.tracks-n-troops.com/Hat/HAT8081.jpg Austrian Artillery crew http://www.wwi-models.org/Images/CooperM/Dioramas/AH1/skoda10sml.JPG http://www.wwi-models.org/Images/CooperM/Dioramas/AH1/42cmSK2.jpg http://www.wwi-models.org/Images/CooperM/Dioramas/AH1/152mmSkoda1.jpg http://www.wwi-models.org/Images/CooperM/Dioramas/AH1/152mmSkoda2.jpg @hikooki look at http://ofp.gamepark.cz/news/pics3/ww1gas1va2.jpg

Igor101AD 0 Posted March 1, 2008 Hey there ProfTournesol! Good lookin' artillery! Shells looks really cool! I don't know if this question was asked, but will you make any island? Keep up the good work
ProfTournesol 956 Posted March 2, 2008 @ hikooki : you mean, that kind of French uniforms ? 1914 Line infantry NCO (the two brothers of my grand grand father died dressed like this, in the first days of the war) 1914 "Chasseurs a pied" : @ HxCxFxL : Â @ Igor101AD : yes, a No Mans Land island is in the pipe. Yes exactly like that! Great work! Looks like I'll be making some missions in the early days of the war WIll you be making an island consiting of the western front in the early days?
HxCxFxL 0 Posted March 8, 2008 @hikooki Quote[/b] ]n fact, it's quite convenient to build trench systems, but with some limitations :(1) trench walls must not be too close (i mean that the trench itself must be quite wide, twice as wide as it was in WW1 in fact), because of Ofp pathfinding problems. I put a road into the trench to ease the pathfinding. (2) Trench walls must be quite low so that defenders can shoot. One trench system will be made of : one front line trench with MG's, perpendicular communications trench leading to reserve and command trench with bunkers. The map will be made of : two trench systems with a No Man's Land in between. Some forest and nature around the battlefield. Some undestroyed villages in the rear lines, some destroyed ones in the No Man's Land. It won't be perfect but it cannot. And look at page 5 on this thread, ProfTournesol is making an nomansland terrain with some trench system, a destroyed town... But hikooki realease your missions when they are finished, I will also make a lot of missions with these great addons, hmm how about releasing our missions in a map pack or a campaign ? ProfTournesol 956 Posted March 10, 2008 Ok, news of the week : (1) the island is pretty advanced, it's mainly a squared island with a NoMansLand in the middle (~1/3 of the island) and the rest of it is more or less the center of Nogova, with other elevations and with my Napoleonic buildings for farmland areas and some BIS building for the towns. There is a functional airfield. So this island can be used for classical war times, or trench fights, which are more laggy, due to the amount of objects to render in the trench area. (2) As i was fed up with canons (i'll finish them anyway), i made a Renault CV60 truck, re using parts of a nice IOE truck (Citroen U23). I added a nice old horn sound for the horn, and it is moving very slowly.
Igor101AD 0 Posted March 10, 2008 Hey ProfTournesol! Nice truck What's it's max speed? . Keep up your work!

Really nice, it would be cool if you could connect the cannons to the trucks and tow them away but I don't think that is possible in the ofp-engine Would be nice if you would show a overview of the map, so that aspiring mission-makers could start sketching up some missions already
Deathstruck 375 Posted March 10, 2008 Its actually possible to hook cannon behind the truck. just check WW2EC Pak36
spad 64 Posted March 10, 2008 my old u23 souvenir souvenir nice truck and of course i give you clearance to use the u23
Sennacherib 0 Posted March 10, 2008 hi, Prof; a "taxi de la marne" would be also excellent. the army used a lot of these vehicles to carry the soldiers. btw nice truck,
Snuffy 0 Posted March 11, 2008 Thats a nice truck you have there ProfT. About the towing, if i remember right atleast the british army used early type of military tractors to tow their heavy artillery like 18 pounder field guns. Heres a picture of one towing a field gun on mesopotamia.
ProfTournesol 956 Posted March 11, 2008 As always, thanks for the support. Quote[/b] ]my old u23 souvenir souvenir nice truck and of course i give you clearance to use the u23 I can't believe that you're at the origin of almost everything i'm working on (Napoleonic mod) or with (IOE mod from which i'm mainly using men, with King Tiger's permission)...you're a kind of OFP father for me By the way, will WH40K mod leave you some time left to finish those tanks ? Quote[/b] ]Hey ProfTournesol! Nice truck What's it's max speed? . Keep up your work! Official max speed : 18 kmh, in Game max speed : 30 kmh is very acceptable (slower may be problematic and VERY boring).
longstreetcsa 1 Posted March 11, 2008 ProfTournesol as always you are working hard to bring the good old Operation Flashpoint to a whole new level and an extra tense gameing experience - keep it up man!!!!
ProfTournesol 956 Posted March 12, 2008 The last WW1 French soldier ("poilu") just died aged 110. Â This mod is dedicated to all the soldiers who died or did suffer during this awfull war, whatever side they were fighting for, Â what they have endured is nowadays hardly believable. May we remember them a little thanks to it. @ LongstreetCSA : thanks a lot old friend !
HxCxFxL 0 Posted March 14, 2008 Honor and Respect for all the fallen, you said it ProfTournesol Your Renault CV60 truck is wonderful Prof. and the speed of the car....superb Quote[/b] ] a "taxi de la marne" would be also excellent. D@ntes idea is great or how about some horse wagons (who load wine casks for the front ) where you also could hook the artillery for the front, just an idea but keep up your fantastic work
ProfTournesol 956 Posted March 17, 2008 News of the front : Some vehicles, the Renault CV 60 for refueling, a standard bicycle for all sides and a motorbike for the West side (the bike and the motorcycle are BIS modified ones) : A few questions : (1) What kind of truck would you like for the British Army (just one, hey...) (2) Did the German Army actually use trucks ? If yes, which ones ? (3) I'd like to make some armored cars for the Armies that used them on quite a large scale. What armored cars would you like to see and for which Armies ?
sudayev 27 Posted March 17, 2008 This screen looks very promising:) Quote[/b] ](2) Did the German Army actually use trucks ? If yes, which ones ? Germany used both trucks and halftracks (cross-country vehicles) during the WWI. One of them was Marienwagen truck. Here are some reference links you might be interested.
