The Apaches don't carry the longbow radar in Iraq because there are no armoured targets to seek out with radar. Manually designated laser targeting are more flexible, and I'd imagine it's hard to justify the increased cost in fuel brought on by the weight and drag of the mast mounted radar.

Actually they do use the Longbow radar in Irag and Afghanistan. Its use is very well documented and is used for standoff ISTAR/observation. Its proved execellant for the role with the Longbow FCR acting as the coordinator for the rest of the units in the air and on the ground.

As I understand it you will see more of the Older 64A models out there atm due to the rotation of aircraft and crews which is where your misconception likely comes from.

It appears I stand corrected. I wonder what the rate of the longbow radar's installation is, then.

Yes, release dates and addons don't get along well, just as soon as you get ready to release, a bug or a few pop up out of nowhere.

Plus rushing it will just sour it so to speak.

i didn't pressure no onei didn't say "come one release" just wanna know the release date i don't know when its going to come out so i asked for some info is that so wrong?

And so the eternal battle continues; modders and those who ask for the release date fight it out in the Forever War. biggrin_o.gif

And it traditionally goes...

It will be done when it is done. It will not be released if it is not done, and we do not know when it will be done. So nobody knows when it will be released. You just have to pay attention.

The idea of A's no longer operating in Iraq seems highly unlikely, even the Alpha's in 07 began recieving Block III upgrades which includes only a few as opposed to the D and I doubt we will ever see Alpha with M-TADS or Pathfinder/Arrowhead.

These images were taken in 07, the thing to note is the railing moving down the tailboom.

Naturally there are more but I think thats enough for now.

Oddly enough the only ones invested in Pathfinder so far is US, Japan and Netherlands, though Japan went crazy on their longbow and bought the whole kit, FCR and even AA weapon mounts on the wingtips.

And a BIII LB operating in Iraq.

Oh and I'll have those parts to you soon, I want to finish a few things such as the wire cutter between the TADS and PNVS and optimize its bits and so on, in the mean time I would recommend tweaking the cockpit, it will make one heck of a difference.

Oh and since I mentioned it..if you do plan on doing BIII then I better show you Arrowhead and what its linked to.

This is arrowhead, aka Pathfinder, planning to be employed on other helicopters such as CH-47, without M-TADS naturally.

M-TADS is linked to TEDAC, which is 90% less in maintaining costs then ORT

And one last angle, should give you enough info.

http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/9981/12961gz4.jpg

Check Lockheed's website for Pathfinder and Arrowhead for more information, a PDF and video showing the visual differnce between Arrowhead and PNVS.

Also I have a good several high res images of IHADSS, I'll send those as well via PM, and one last thing. If you haven't, I highly recommend checking out flickr, I'v found many of my high res images there.

...

Those first three pics are indeed Alpha models, but note i said as of 2008 there are none serving with the US Army anymore.

The IHADSS pics would be VERY helpful, as I only have a rough idea on what they look like. And I look forward to those parts.

Thanks for all your help.

Well thats me told.

Another of the more recent helmet, figured you could use another reference or two, especially since there were no 'back of head' shots.

Also no need to point out that the shots internal and not are Alpha model (you can tell by the dash), I'll do it for ya :P

I'll let you know if I find anything else and like I said..if you have any questions just ask, I even have a picture of the flachete rockets.

Not at all. You missed my point. If you do a quick glance through this thread you can see that the release date subject has been addressed many times. This goes for every AddOns/Mods thread you have asked about a release day. All of those threads have multiple posts discussing a release date, in some, just a few posts/pages before your inquiry.

Now to be blunt tounge2.gif, I don't care and shouldn't care what you decide to post. I just want to point out that it's possible to really piss off content creator(s) by asking about release dates if they have addressed it many times over and over. We just don't want that to happen. They don't need it.

Who knows, most likely none of them will not care. But, just in case you didn't read the previous pages of the posts in which you asked about a release date. Doing that may be something that gets you an answer much quicker. But more importantly, it may avoid angering the one doing the work for us. Even if they completely misread a benign intention, I've seen your statement cause a lot of unneeded angst. And the person that asked didn't mean any disrespect, it was a simple noob mistake.

First let me be clear. At no point in any of my replies do I intend any of this to be a demand, insult, flame, etc. It's only food for thought, maybe even a subtle suggestion if you didn't read over threads before asking for info. Seriously, I hate to do it as well, but it has saved me a ton of time and headaches.

Sorry for being off topic.... again. I'm finished with any suggesting. Hey, just trying to avoid a possible fight. But of course, that ain't be job.... So I'll butt out.

biggrin_o.gif

Oh Yeah... BTW Apache-Cobra, Amen to that.

Didn't mean to sound angsty if I did either, I was simply saying that addons and release dates don't get along well due to bugs. So when you push for...anyway that was adressed, the other part was the 'half baked' due to being released too early, few bugs adressed and the addon doesn't amount to its full potential.

Angsty, pissy, down right mean. Even if that was the case, the IMWM crew would have every right to go off on any one they deem necessary. All the time, energy, etc. you've put in to this project up to this point grants you that right. If it was me, I know my concern would be getting it done right before getting it out to the public quickly.

Nonetheless, you guys have handled updates, news, info, etc. pretty damn well as I see it. My feeling is take as long as you need in order to be as satisfied as possible with what you release first. You ain't gonna get no gripe from me regarding when this gets released.

BUT God Damn this is gonna be a hell of a Mod. No doubt in my mind.

I thought you were part of the IMWM team and was trying to show gratitude for your work. I made a mistake I guess, so why are you even talking to me? Do I owe you a response or something. If so I didn't get the PM but if you'd like me to give a different reason I'm happy to oblige. thumbs-up.gif

Oh, no I'm not part of the team, just providing Apache-Cobra some information and model parts to help him improve the apache in a faster timepace (atleast that is what we are hoping happens)

Glad to see you'd back the team up though.

Brief clarification gentlemen:

The AH-64A is still in service with a number of National Guard units. The regular Army only uses AH-64D now. smile_o.gif

I believe the Apaches I used in NTC just recently were non-radar D's, and had no issues with a cordon and search mission as far as surveillance. Matter of fact it was very excellent stuff, so even if it had the radar, it wouldn't do any good in a town anyways.

I think we are having a beta, it wont be for some months though. No time soon, so dont bother asking now.

This should be on IMWMod.com's index and in this thread's Page1, and in big bold letters so everyone knows smile_o.gif

I'd personally lean toward a closed Beta of a small group of people that have demostrated the ability to provide constructive feedback. Then soon after, provide a Public revised Beta. Edit: But of course, that's not my decision to make, it's IMW Ghost and all the 'makers' of the IMW to decide smile_o.gif

I can't imagine dealing with another hailstorm of unconstructive comments like the ones who tried to tear another asshole in the CSM Team for it's 'Beta' and consequently, were partly responsible for having the CSM thread locked.

okay, one of my greatest wishes for this mod was the development of a Cougar-H MRAP vehicle, or a buffalo mprc, but Ill save that for the addon thread on your forums (where I think its already listed) wink_o.gif

Anywho, where im going with this is I was setting up a decent sized base on the northern end of Sakakah Al Jawf map the other day, when I realized ArmA is lacking of a few crucial components for base life. Would you guys be considering modeling a few static generators for extra power possibly? Or any water tanks and such? Are there already any generators in-game? It seems sort of silly that a base would be lacking something like this.
