Bratwurst 0 Posted February 24, 2002 I thought I was going to see some more action with the Red hammer upgrade. After all, OPF is the only game capable of simulating a believable battlefield. Well, someone did a mission called “Babysitting?†within the red Red Hammer campaign and for starters, OPF isn’t suitable for RAMBO mission like that. Teamwork is what makes the OPF engine so different, I have not yet seen any game more suitable for simulating teamwork and military believable tactics. Anyway, the problem with the Babysitting mission is that I’m stuck in the “retry†position just after the ambush with the orders to find an alternative transport. My Russian comrades blew up the two cars nearby as well as the resistance truck on the road. The truck I arrived in isn’t working for some reason and the only one left working is a civil truck. Now, the thing is, this civil truck is LOCKED!! Very funny, and I didn’t bring my lock picking tools!? There are no other working transports nearby and if you leave the area searching for one, you will get mission failed! I played the Red Hammer campaign trusting it with the continue feature that’s fully automatic. I don’t have any saved games to fall back on. I can’t finish the Red Hammer campaign because if this! With missions like “Babysitting?â€, the Red Hammer campaign is without doubt harming the otherwise excellent OPF universe. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to waste any money on it! You can easily build better and working missions yourself using the editor. This isn’t exactly giving hopes to the “resistance†add-on, as for what I have read about it so far, it will feature more “Rambo†missions. If I wanted this gamestyle, I would play Serious Sam instead! If I were to spend more money on OPF, I would at least want missions possible to complete! ____ I don’t have any intentions to flame OPF, fact is I’m a BIG fan of this title. It’s just to bad, official add-ons had to include poor mission design.
SpaceAlex 0 Posted February 24, 2002 There's a man in the house next to your truck. He have the key. anyway. Red Hammer was great to me. If u don't like it, don't play it. I would recomanded this campaign to everyone who likes a little challenge. Â Red Hammer was made by Codemaster, not by BIS. U can't expect it to be the same as the original is. Bratwurst 0 Posted February 24, 2002 Are you serious? So OPF suddenly became an RPG game where you got to find keys and stuff! This is only verifying my point about OPF becoming more and more like all other games on the market. I have seen racing missions, arcade solo missions, and now even RPG style missions within OPF Geezuz! Thanks for the help though
Random 0 Posted February 25, 2002 Give it a rest. There's only that one mission where you have to get a key for the truck, and I thought it was a very clever thing to do. Adds some variety. It's also more realistic, surely, than just jumping into a car and starting it up. I thought the Red Hammer campaign was excellent. Lots of fun.
SGT ROCK 1 Posted February 25, 2002 I always leave my car parked out front, unlocked, with the keys in the ignition just in case the Russians attack and need my car. Saves them sticking an AK in my face

I was forced to head into the house for cover after letting the resistance tank have it. That drew a crowd for some odd reason. I inadvertantly crawled next to the civilian with the keys when, all of a sudden, he panicked from my AK and spilled the beans. I'm all for this kind of gag once every dozen missions. It's really harmless.
