Developer's Blog

Recommended Posts

Everytime the dev blog comes up it excites me. It has in plain english all of the interesting stuff that I would normally comb the forums for- and all in one place. For me, this is one of the more interesting bits of BIS - Community interaction.

Pure awesomeness how this looks!

But this does not mean that whole meadows getting flooded when it rained to much? Or when you destroyed a dam?

I'm looking forward to this!

ohara

I noticed a comment in the Blog about "cleaning up the grass growing in the water".

The pictures shown look pretty real and suggest that some of the "Grass" remain as in real life some Ponds / lakes do have some sort of plant growth in or around them especially if they are not deep water.

Yes we know that, we will clean it just in deep water and on rocky surface

Yes i was just kind of thinking that, when you would not "finalize the clutters" and you would be able to create ponds on the fly (with script command), one could mod/script that, as it really looks almost like in RL when a meadow is flooded after much rain (or dam broke :p ), especially here:

Added Finally water! by Jan Hovora (13 May 2009). Thanks for the heads-up and damn stunning work I may say

PS: Any plans for a ring-effect when it rains? We've seen some similar effect on the ground when it rains in ArmA. Then again I suppose it is a very different way of doing this with water(texture) and hardly any priority. ;)

I think we put that out, there was not enought stages in shader, or some problems with animated normal maps, not sure now. But in bad weather, water move with many waves, so its not so much visible in fact.

Wow! That water looks like it has a soft edge, which is fantastic. Is that really a soft edge, or is it just my wishful thinking?

Also, now you can see trough the Community Blog archive as well. It's stricly only for easier access to this part of

the blog archive, not for commenting, as this is still the "Developer's Blog" thead.
