ArmA Competition Ladder Now Open

I am surprised none of the TWL representatives have not posted this here yet:

http://www.teamwarfare.com has opened two ArmA ladders for signups. They have a 5v5 Team Death Match and 10v10 Advance and Conquer. They will not activate the actual competition until at least 10 teams sign up.

Generally, good competition will bring attention to a game and usually results in bringing in more players. So, here's a chance to up the player base a little.

If your squad has the people to support the ladders and you'd like to take part in some good competition, go sign up smile_o.gif

Don think maps been made yet. Even if they did have maps i doubt that they will manage to get 10 teams in the sign up. Most teams are "inactive". ECL are the only ones in ArmA that are running an active ladder.

Yes 10 teams but not 10 active ones. Most teams there have played 8 matches over the past 6 months sad_o.gif

The problem isnt the numbers of leagues, its the lack of their qualities. Soon ArmA will have been out in 1 year and teams somehow dont want to play any longer. We already have leagues with the same maps and game style OFP had. But even with that support people choose to walk the other way. I can understand the CQB/CTF teams that used to play in small maps, they were depending on OFP:s quickness when running around. But why dont the C&H team stick around? The answer isnt in the maps or leagues. Its in the gameplay. Only a new created gameplay could make ArmA fun and easy but realistic at the same time. Lets hope Warfare people are better at this!

Dont want to take a shit on ArmA but im on a team that moved from ArmA to Graw2 due to ArmA not being able to preform the qualities a Player vs Player game needs. Hower, ArmA will still be the best game in the world when it comes to COOP!

(btw Q, you heard anything from CTI people? CTI used to domminate OFP, where is it in ArmA?)

I am currently digging into the editor and V3.

I had map making experience in the old days of Tribes2 and Unreal 1 (aka 1998).

ArmA CAN have PvP gameplay that would more than adequately lend itself to competition, but it needs new maps and PvP centric missions made. OFP was built by the community. There seems to be a big disappointment that ArmA did not include the advancements that the community had made is OFP. Why throw up the hands in disbelief when the community can recreate those elements.

I am a complete and utter nub when it comes to mapping and scripting in this game, but I am going to try to tackle the challenge as best as I can. Anyone who already has experience who would like to form a PvP mapping/scripting team can PM me. If nothing else I could help out as I learn and could also help coordinate for ladder/league play orientated maps (I'm a Program Manager in real life, so that's well within my bounds LOL!wink_o.gif

yes, Doolittle is currently working on his take on CTI nicknamed "DLcti"

its almost near completion and we'll need some other squads out there to help get this map out there *its currently a favorite on 88th server*

Binkster might start working on his version of MFCTI since mike malvin wants to take forever finishing up his own mission... huh.gif

its taking some time converting the missions over to ArmA but THEY ARE being converted thumbs-up.gif

i know CTITC is wanting to start up in arma but they dont have a proper map yet for CTI. we're all just waiting on cti i guess sad_o.gif

TWL sounds great! Brings back Tribes2 and BF42 memories.

All I need is:

A clan, more time, a better PC

Impossible for me ATM ! Maybe this winter

People will be recording the matches ? That'll be nice to watch.

I would like to join a clan/squad still.I could be backup player maybe

I was NI4NI and of course I was a shrike pilot specialize in base defense and flag retrieval...good ol days.

Tribes2 is free now

BF42 I was -=CR=-, still am for that matter

TWL would work well for ARMA as it would be private matches, no hacks etc...

Now you'll making want to join a squad, I never bought OFP or ARMA for MP but that would change my mind

I am still learning how to modify these, but it's coming along

I took the CloseCombat and edited so it wasn't CounterStrike mayhem style gameplay. It's still open area/close quarters, but in an ArmA style.

Changes:

Too small of battlefield for heavy armor and helo's

- Removed tanks frome each side

- Removed Helo's from each side

- Expanded play arena

- Dispalced flags to increase challenge of taking them

- Placed walls and sandbag fences around spawns to prevent spawn camping by the opposing team (killing players as they spawn)

- Placed dirt mounds and sandbag walls around flags

- Changed 1st page of briefing to clarify the order each team must take objectives.

Needs to be performed:

- AI spawning needs to be completely eliminated. Either a player spawn in that slot, or nothing spawns

(anyone willing to help me out on that one, I'd greatly appreciate the help!wink_o.gif
