ArmA and GeForce 8600M GT / 8700M GT

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, as I am beginning studies this year, I am very seriously thinking about buying some laptop. Here is what I have in my eyes:

Compal IFL 90 with GeForce 8600m GT 512MB

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7500, BOX 2.20GHz, 800MHz FSB, 4MB L2

Dual Kingston 2 GB 667MHz PC2-5300 DDR2 CL5.0 (5-5-5) SO-DIMM

Anybody expereidnced ArmA on laptop with the same/ similar specs? If yes, share your minds please! Thx ;-)

Well, considering how close performance is with the 8600 and my 7600, you'll probably be able to run the game on "ok" settings.

I run with:

Resolution: 800x600

Terrain detail: Normal

Object detail: Normal

Texture detail: Very high

Shading detail: Normal

Post process effects: Low

Anisotropic filtering: Very high

Shadow detail: Disabled

Antialiasing: Very high

Blood: High

Gives me:

60 FPS - Desert

30 FPS - Towns

15 - 20 FPS - Forests

I just got that laptop (BTO 15W25+) that is the same laptop with same specs.

And Im disapointed. Because of the high native resolution (1680x1050) it looks crap in lower resolutions. But even with all settings on low I get about 30 fps

All on high I have about 8 fps, and some strange fog, wich I dont have on my PC (same specs but with X1950)

Maybe I dont have the best drivers yet, but the newest from nvidia are worse than the shipped ones sad_o.gif

Is the 8600m GT that much slower than the x1950? (both 512mb)
