The Vympel mod rocked so much back then loved it, also it fit tot he revolting russian troops story too bad noone ever made a real russian campaign for it.

Its one of these mods that inspired us on many RHS units ( especially the last ones ) and today i still think i never saw more realistic geared units then in this Mod.

But GR in general was pretty nice when it came to that stuff, great research by their advisor Roman Stephanov ( who now works on his own game with his team ).

URL=http://www.flightgear.org]Flightgear goodness.

URL=http://www.flightgear.org/Downloads/scenery.html]On this page, after downloading and installing some european sceneries for Flightgear , i flied a bit around with my mouse/keyboard combo on one of the different planes to see if i could see location i know.

After a long flight i ended near this town somewhere in France, but i had absolutely no idea where i was, as i was flying randomly and got totally lost (i don't know yet each functions of the software regarding gps, airport tower radios etc..)

img]http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/3076/clipboard01jf7.jpg[/img]

So as i read that sceneries in Flightgear are using very good precision, i decided to test what could be seen on the upper part of the red HUD in the screenshot (the longitude and latitude coordinates "46 37 405 N" and "1 05 109 E").

Then i rounded them and entered :

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">46 37 40, 1 5 11

in the search field on the google maps website.

Pressed enter and ...URL=http://maps.google.com/maps?t=k&spn=0.01,0.01&q=46.62777,1.086388]awesome result/URL] nearly spot on with what can be seen on the screenshot.

img]http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/1444/clipboard02as9.jpg[/img]

When you think you can download and install nearly every location of the world to fly around all of them, for an open source software that cost you ... nothing ... to play , it is very impressive, even if the maps are not as detailled as the real thing (it lacks tons of small towns and villages).

All it needs now is some working air combat code smile_o.gif to be as fun as YSflight is.

hey! Sanctuary, do you know that? targetware

Yes, a friend pointed this to me some months ago , it looked very nice and some features sounded very good, but from what i read in that time is that Targetware is a beta test and will soon be only playable by monthly subscription, if it is not already the case as i did not followed what is happening for this.

And even if offline flying was said to remain free, the fact there is no AI for a fly sim that is combat oriented is not very good for an offliner like me wink_o.gif (and it did not supported mouse flying)

Hey Sanctuary, that YSFlight looks good, though is there any organized website which has all the addons? I took a peek at that forum which u indicated where all the addons were but it's somewhat confusing to see where they are...

By the way, here's a nice cheap sim with also a huge amount of addons, as seen in these pix... it's called "Wings over Europe".

Not Mozilla, but still... tounge2.gif

Also available in white...

In any case, it's a really slow bird...

BUZZARD @ Oct. 16 2007,11:50)]Hey Sanctuary, that YSFlight looks good, though is there any organized website which has all the addons? I took a peek at that forum which u indicated where all the addons were but it's somewhat confusing to see where they are...

The difficulty with YSFlight is that despite there are thousands of addons, the majority of them are only found on their authors website (it seems that nearly all the YSFlight addon authors refuse to have their addons hosted anywhere out of their own private websites), and the heavy majority of those are in japanese, making it a bit difficult if your translator is not good enough.

But if it is too difficult for you, i located a french website hosting 2 addons installer that will install -tons- of addons and maps for YsFlight instead of having to gather them one by one in obscure japanese websites (but from what i can read, you can only install 1 of those 2 addon pack in your YSFlight).

Nice "think russian" plane in your screenshots smile_o.gif

Thanks, but it's not mine, it's from Capun's Skunkworks department, and a beta at that, but there are some cool "what if" addons available, and more in the works, including the "Sr-51" like you posted in YSflight pics wink_o.gif

Wings over Europe is a sim, that is the latest modern development of a game called "Strike Fighters Project", and all versions - "Strike Fighters Project", "Wings over Vietnam" and "Wings over Europe" are over 99% compatible with each other, and there is only 1 patch to patch them all up to the latest stage of development. There's also a "First Eagles" flight sim that also uses the same engine and is officially the latest one, but since it's centered on WWI, not everybody has jumped on that latest train. I picked up "Wings over Europe" because it seems to be the most stable and also was at the time the only one available in shops; a new sequel, whose working title seems to be "Wings of Israel", seems to be in the works, and if tradition is kept, will be backwards compatible to the previous titles. "Wings of Israel" is set to be in the 1982 time frame, whereas "Wings over Europe" still stands as the most "modern" covering a 1985 timeline.

Hopefully its OK to reply to this old thread, but after screwing around with the new FSX Acceleration expansion a bit I decided to make a video. The coolest thing about acceleration is the external loads for helicopters. By default they are all on the EH-101 and are all sling loads, I was looking more for utility type longline flying so I modded a few things. I put a 150 ft longline on a AS-350 and edited the air file a bit so it would have more power to lift the loads. Unfortunately, whatever I edited makes the engine fail at random, but oh well it takes a bit before it fails. Anyway here is a video I made trying to show the external load physics, but the stupid engine quit on me when I was getting ready to drop the load.

Does this new expansion have sufficient new content to make it worth the buy? I've not done much with FSX recently, but if there is something new and exciting ...    huh.gif

For me the external load stuff with the helicopters was enough, there is also a hoist on the EH-101 with some search and rescue coast guard type missions (I haven't tried them yet). There is a P-51 that is pretty well done, along with air race missions which I haven't tried either. The F-18 is also well done and you can land and catapult from the carrier deck. There is some other new stuff but I cant remember what. I'm not sure if its legal but if you managed to download the expansion somewhere, it will let you play for 30 min unregistered.

since Norway is not in the European Union, has anyone else noticed what this makes Sweden and Finland look like on the coins?

Quote ]This is a mixtape of the New PS3 Game Afrika (Working Title) from Sony Entertainment, nobody knows exactly what you have to do in this game, but you must see it, fantastic ingame grafics

A Game without killing and murdering nice for younger children

Your FiveUp

you want to download: " Ask me "

From the youtube video.

Looks amazing and I really hope there is a PC version that gets released I can't afford a PS3 for one game. I don't think that killing part is completely true if you watch the end of the video. I have no idea what the objective is but I would probably buy it just to walk around.

Afrika thread merged into here seeing as it's not new and not a game (assuming the definition of game = have gun, shoot things which it really should be, well except for sports games).
