how to merge the uv maps and the textures?

Recommended Posts

hi, i search a good tut for 3dsmax. i need to merge all the uvmappings and the textures to have one big texture.

i tried the special tool in 3dsmax (i have forgotten the name), but this is really boring, because i need to rescale all the parts, because the previous maps don't have the same size. and the textures are not attached at the new uvmapping. and i don't want to make again all the textures crazy_o.gif

currently, the model has 6 textures.

btw, i used wings 3d for the uvmapping.

thx

look for a ptm script for oxygen..

it merges several textures into one bigger..

you dont need lithunwrap for that..

What I do is....

Build the model

Attach all components to one

Convert to Poly

Unwrap UVW modifier

Set UV's with editor

Use Texporter to save the UV's as one image. (I use TGA)

Edit image

Import 3ds file to O2

Select object => press "E"

Set texture path to your file saved as .paa (With Texview2)

Thats the just of it anyways...

drag and drop

2048x1024

maybe bigger and im just to stupid, could swear i had it on 2048*2048 once, but didnt get it handled again.

if you cant get it bigger at all, you use an old pantool version i think.

i guess you understand that my question is 'how to' not 'is it'  ?  wink_o.gif

So how can i change 'new merged texture' resolution ?

get your monitor to a very high res like 1600x1200 or higher and

drag and drop the lower right edge of the window.

2048 is doable. your eyes will hurt after that though.

ive read that certain GPU's cannot process 4096x4096 textures..

2048*2048 is arma limit wink_o.gif

My native resolution 1650*1050 - can't get more on LCD.

Quote[/b] ]drag and drop the lower right edge of the window.

I see now. I managed to get 2048*1024, but can't stratch it further down. What's up ?

+It's interesting where this resolution is stored - it's saved after relaunch of pantool

I've heard about texmege too

Anybody got a link ?

Well, some form of 3rd-party app is needed because as far as I am aware, the texture merging in the new O2 doesn't work.

class item00001

class item00003

{

w=512.000000;

h=512.000000;

scale=0.000000;

name="SJB_TOSsmg\ump45\sights.pac";

angle=0.000000;

};

};

w=2048.000000; OVERALL WIDTH

h=2048.000000; OVERALL HEIGHT

alpha=1.000000;

file="SJB_TOSsmg\ump45\UMP45_co.paa"; MERGED TEXTURE FILE

models[]=

{

"SJB_UMP45_proxy.p3d"

};

mergedpath="C:\O2_Viewer\SJB_TOSsmg\ump45";

};

};

Anyone got a link to O2 RC2 instead of 3, as the merge function no-longer works in RC3 (good work BIS in breaking it).
