ZeroG_181 0 Posted July 31, 2007 In ArmA and OFP, one of the main things which bothered me was the lack of animations. The soldier and vehicle animations are fine, but when you put the two together, it looks quite sloppy, to be honest. Say you want to get into a Humvee, you go up to the humvee and press 'ride in back of humvee'. Your character leans towards the humvee and magically teleports inside. What i'm saying here, is that doors should be animated, and so should the character getting into the vehicle, like in GTA, so you don't teleport from standing to sitting instantly. Another thing about doors is that they could be used as shields. Well, on the HMMWV, anyway, because on civilian or unarmoured vehicles, rounds will penetrate the doors. Also, reloading is weird, because you have to stop to reload. You should be able to reload on the move, but it'd be slower. Aside from that, the Pistol slides and rifle ejection ports are not animated either. Another thing is the vehicle wreckages. There should be varying wreckages and damaged models depending on what has been damaged. Say if a vehicles wheel had been shot, the wheel shouldn't just change texture, it should have the tyre shredded, or if it was hit by an explosive, the wheel should be completely missing. And if windows are shattered, only the one that has been shot should be. On A10s, the engines should be destructible, and damage should have effect on performance. If a wing has been damaged, the plane should roll in the direction of the damaged wing due to air flow and such. If an engine was shot out (The vehicle i'm talking about being an A10), the plane would yaw in the direction of the dysfunctional engine. Maybe the models should have 'crumble zones', like in IL-2 and similar games, where if a wing or other part hits the ground, another plane or whatever, that wing or section of wing would come off, but if the planes were only moving at (extremely) low speeds, on the ground, the damage would be minimal. If they were going at above 5 mph, though, the damage would be present. I've noticed on helicopters that being shot in the tail will make the main rotor stop functioning too, this is quite unrealistic. The damage should only take effect on the components that are actually present in that area, such as rudder (on planes, anyway) controls (Hydraulics, electricals ect.), the tail rotor it's self, stabilising fins et cetera. Of course, all i've said is up to BIS to add to the game, but i'm sure i, as well as many others would like to see these features in a future game.
wipman 0 Posted February 17, 2008 Hi, a improvement will be to add female soldiers[/] and female style animations; why!? because: A) It'll atract more players. B) Will sell more game's copys. C) Will represent better the combat field. D) Will be better for all (players, female players and the BIS pocket). Let's C ya
smellyjelly 0 Posted February 17, 2008 This topic was several months old, but since I agree with all of his ideas I'm not going to complain. Â Anyways, yeah, I strongly agree with everything he said, especially the details regarding vehicle damage. It's nice to be able to damage sections of the helicopters, like the tail rotor or fuel tank -though that's probably just random. I've already gone very indepth about my hopes for the damage system in Arma II, but basically, the vehicles shouldn't have a "damage system" that would represent the whole car, but rather many "damage systems" that represent many different parts of the car. For example, the engine, wheels, windows, fuel line, lights, and more would each be independant and when damaged, each would give different results. That way, unlike Arma, you could shoot the trunk all day and the car would still perform fine. However, once you shoot the engine, then it may stop working. In my opinion that, in theory, seems like a much better system than whatever Arma is currently using. Just one more though, to make the damage even better, it would be interesting if a partially damaged engine would show different types of damage, and could could change over time. For example, if an engine is shot a few times, then the car may have a lower max speed and acceleration before eventually giving up all together and the car would no longer work. And of course, I'm going to finish off with my trademark complaint- Do not make cars blow up from bullets! Â
