Jackal326 1181 Posted July 28, 2007 ...some normal maps would be cool too Normal maps would require a lot more new modelling work though, wouldn't they? (I'm having trouble getting my head around that concept at the moment - regarding what benefit it imparts to a model apart from surface details). Well, it would require LESS modelling work, provided they were done right. First though it would be far easier if the model used one or two textures, not 25 small textures. The benefits imparted would be being able to model less detail which can be simulated by the normal maps (texture of the grip, scuffs and scrapes in the camo paint-work etc.). If its done right, it looks good and is worth the effort.
stock762 0 Posted July 28, 2007 It's not that big of a disadvantage having that many textures though is it?
Jackal326 1181 Posted July 28, 2007 It can be. More textures = more load on the memory, or at least thats how I understand it. One large texture at 1024x1024 is better (i.e. less opf a burden on resources) than 4 textures at 512x512. I'm basing this on what I've read on these forums, not on any investigation I've done myself, however I consider it very reliable.

stock762 0 Posted July 29, 2007 The Marpats are johnny's marines: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=1093 The other camo from the older screens were from the Danish Mod.

andersson 285 Posted July 30, 2007 Sure looks good, but you should seriously consider making this a good addon instead of a good looking addon. Normalmaps and 1 or 2 textures as Jackal326 said. One addon doesnt affect performance so much but if more "bad" addons (regarding performance) are used they can make a considerable hit on a system.
stock762 0 Posted July 31, 2007 I'm done with this rifle, maybe some time later i'll look into normal maps. Someone that knows how to do normal maps can do it.
miles teg 1 Posted July 31, 2007 Stock, I recommend that you put links of updates for your rifles on a edited version of your first post on this thread. Otherwise your updates will get lost in all the pages of this thread and many people will miss the download links. For that reason its usually standard to update the first post of a thread with any new links. Just a tip. Keep up the great work...oh and also I hope you make a US Army version as well (without MARPAT). Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
stock762 0 Posted July 31, 2007 As in U.S. Army you mean an ACU version?
Silverguy82 0 Posted August 1, 2007 I have done an extensive range report on this gun and have found these trajectory's to be VERY accurate... use them as a reference guide when shooting the gun here is the ranges and where they place on the scope... also... if you are using gmJamez's click adjustment addon use these for the longer ranges up to 1,000 m (to get them so you just need to aim dead center to hit the desired range). All clicks are up (+) 7  clicks to 300 m 14 clicks to 400 m 20 Clicks To 500 m 27 clicks to 600 m 35 clicks to 700 m 44 clicks to 800 m 54 clicks to 900 m 63 clicks to 1,000 m Hope this gets everyone 1 shot 1 kills
Winters1807 0 Posted August 2, 2007 You should make this rifle compatable with 30rnd Stanag SD, because without the SD rounds, the rifle is still heard by the AI
dreamweaver 0 Posted August 24, 2007 First, thanks for this nice addon. I tested the M25 on my shooting range and i found out that a popup target doesnt fall back on a hit if it is over 800m away. Is this intended?
GD Mast 0 Posted August 24, 2007 I know it's been mentioned before about the ammo loadout. Â The M-25/M-14 uses 7.62 nato rnds not 5.56 nato rnds. GD Mast P.S.- Also...didn't mean to piss anybody off, I know alot of us are pretty knowledgeable about weapons and such.

Just use either WinZIP or WinRAR to unpack the file, and put the *.PBO file(s) into your 'C:\Program Files\ArmA\Addons' folder.
