Chammys Sound Mod

hmm well to test the cause try deactivating chammys sound mod and using the GL if its still buggy go into the editor and place an east weapons ammo box, pick up an ak-74 with GL attachment and see if it works. Sometimes u just have to play around with it and it fixes itself i remember having this bug myself actually

It's only the M16A4 w/ ACOG & M203 that get this bug, all the other grenade launcher in the game work, not sure if this is a CSM problem or an original game bug.

Its a game bug. i dont use chammys well was testing that new FDF one and i get it, What i am doing is using other sound mods so when the new chammy one gets released it will sound amazing when i run it again notworthy.gif

so u have confirmed that it is CSM mod causing it? im assuming u have the newest patch and all those basic things. I truly wish i could remember how i fixed this bug but i assure u that it can be fixed

It's NOT a CSM bug.

Its an ArmA bug like many others.

for me :

CSM - M16 ACOG GL = not working

FDF - M16 ACOG GL = ok

I have mentioned earlier in this topic (not searching through 53 pages) and had already mentioned this. It is not a bug with the game but a bug with CSM. I have confirmed this. Someone else acknowledged this as well.

CSM is the only sound mod I run. When CSM is not running (and my other mods are) the gun works.

ArmA w/o ANY mods and updated to 1.08 = gun works

ArmA with CSM only = gun does not work.

<span style='color:darkred'>Hmm, that 'is' a CSM issue.</span>

If you absolutely must use the M16A4 ACOG M203 Rifle, I've tested out a config made by Solosniper for Aimpoint's Desert Weapons found in

this thead to address an M4 issue, as a plus the M16A4_ACOG_GL will be able to fire the M203 again. You can download the replacement configs by <span style='color:darkblue'>SoloSniper</span> from here and use the CSM_cfg.pbo to replace the original CMS_cfg.pbo in your addons folder for the CSM modfolder.

Thanks to Solosniper and Aimpoint for that replacement config. I gave that config a quick test and I don't notice any other negative side affects using it, only the positive. If you must use the M16A4_ACOG_GL and want to try using the replacement config from SoloSniper, please note, there will be no support. We are focussing all our efforts on CSM ver1.0 and making it the kickass uber-awesomeness it deserves.

Yeah, these issues have been brought to Durgs attention and I will be fixed in the next Beta, hopefully an actuall version , than a Beta form. Well, here's a quick preview of what I'm aiming at as in solidness and sound:

ahh beautiful especially the distant fire, one criticism. The gun fire from the weapon be used by the player is still quiet. Now i realize due to arma engine restrictions you must use the same sound for the gun next to u as for the one your firing.

from the video i noticed you kept the same end sound when the communication finish.

Is it possible to change it or at least give the possibility to the player to change if he wants?

I really would like to have other, the older and universal sound when communication ends.

Yeha, thats been changed, its with the voice file, I just didnt throw it in yet, the actual version of CSM will have several types.

To me it's still too quiet in fpp mode (youtube maybe, but check the AK 74SU from vf soundpack 1.4)...

It doesn't change much though. Your vid was kinda real life-ish. Probably the best soundpack up to date. Keep up the good work.

i also got that impression. The firing sound still sounded low.

maybe i got th wrong impression, thats why i did not said before, but now that more people report, i have to agree.

Though Chammy did not release the mod yet.. wink_o.gif

can you make it louder?

Gotta say I agree with people saying is sounds a bit weak. The sound itself is spot on though. Hoping it's youtube and you can't hear the bass properly.

The only games that give me a real kick when firing a gun are GRAW and R6:Vegas. Now that's how a rifle sounds when fired. smile_o.gif

Yeah, they havent been quite raised just yet, alot of times when testing any of the sound FX out I have to test them with a fire fight to make sure all mixes well. As for bass, yeah, I do need to increase bass but not too much. If you really fired a gun or rifle , the bassiness you hear is when you use ear muffs instead of the plugs, the bassiness is the actuall consussion of the report which carries more when you are further away kinda like the bass of a bass guitar amplifier. I agree GRAW is "almost" dead on, but R6 Vegas takes the cake in all games when it comes to realitic sound ( not real echo though ), though you have to remmeber, the makers in Grin and Ubisoft recorded the sounds in a padded room and exagerated out the sounds to meet a more Hollywood style. I just, just might release another version with R6 sounds in it as a more commercial/Hollywood style ( for all you Hollywood sound enthusiasts ) BUT altered a bit in the echo end so as not to infringe on copy write laws and plagerism. rofl.gif Actually, might be a little easier to finnish heh.

I hope that r6 version will be seperate. Because I don't want hollywood sounds in my arma.

its true the bass is less when firing a gun without hearing protection, but there is quite an intial thump of the supersonic wave. Also, it is true that distant gunfire is almost all bass. But the weapon you are firing should still be louder than those around you. Unless your next to some large and loud weapon (repeating cannons, or high caliber machine guns). As for other games with good sounds i would like to submit Full Spectrum Warrior. Those were some of the most excited and realistic explosions ive heard

I guess my opinion is a bit off as to what realistic gunfire is because my only experience is with hearing protection on. (MAG, C8 Diemaco / Glock)  pistols.gif

Have you never been curious and tried to shoot without hearing protection? wink_o.gif Its not to recommend regarding your hearing, but its good to know how it is.

Well, nowadays, my only contact with these weapons is during annual training for the Dutch airforce. So, there's a strict protocol and no screwing around. smile_o.gif

Obviously, when other teams are firing I'm about 50m away without my hearing protection but I reckon that's quite different then 50cm. smile_o.gif

I don't know if any of you have noticed, but when a shot is fired and you're standing behind the muzzle of the gun or behind the shooter you really don't get that p'p shockwave. It's almost like a silent woosh if you will and the echo, as apposed to the pop.
