The posted image is not my book. My book is serious, though.

My book is available for purchase here, it's a 168 page full-color softcover book: http://www.lulu.com/dslyecxi

Or online (free) here: http://www.dslyecxi.com/armattp.html

The posted image is a mockery of the "ArmchairGeneral" guide, which has all sorts of false, not-applicable-to-ArmA info in it.

My book is actually by an ArmA fan who knows what he's talking about in regards to tactics and such that are APPLICABLE to ArmA, and not just ripped from military pubs helter-skelter without any idea as to whether they work in the game or not.

edit: I posted about the ArmA tactics guide being available for print a day or two ago on the forum, you can find that post here if you're interested.

Yea, its pretty ridiculous... even in the whole photo (you only showed a part), how'd the sniper get on the roof!

I remember watching an ArmA video on YouTube showcasing usable elevators...

There is lot of rooftop or building that can be visited, but yeah that's not all building/rooftop/etc..

That could be very good, but it's a lot of work.

Atari always been like this.

Elevator are in few buildings.

Take a look in the pbo's. You will find the scripts there.

Apparently, early photos of the first Moon landing. Clearly show "Made by Atari" on the Moon rocks! Go figure...

Yeah I remember it, hopefully it is still possible somehow, would add alot featurewise for many indoor type mods and even outdoor elevators...takes up less space then stairs.

Anyway, heres the elevator video

elevator shown around 01:25

The Steam point is kind of Ironic because there was a poll back in the day if people wanted Steam or BIS's version of such software.

Everybody was complaining and bitching about having ARMA on Steam as if Steam was the antichrist himself.   Its ironic that right now there is a 20 page plus complaint thread about Sprocket and people saying how better Steam is.  It just brings a smile to my face thinking that a year ago there was so much opposition to Steam which did a very good job selling Red Orchestra.

Also, why is it that Tripwire being novice was able to find a much better publisher.  You can buy it in stores pretty much everywhere.  I haven't seen ARMA anywhere around here.

well ... sorta what i think about smile_o.gif ...

but in that times people were bitching against ArmA appear on STEAM first and/or exclusively only on STEAM

but NOW there is no reason to not release ArmA on STEAM anymore ...

that's the best thing smile_o.gif

and IF ATARI complains just simply disable NA region ...

also i discovered that STEAM got one great free feature ...

You can use it to 'register' all retail copies with STEAM ...

use ? ... against keygen generated copies and cheaters in MP smile_o.gif

so far i heard not single usable argument against STEAM ...

steam is actually good, i have many games that i got from them, never had any problems.

and i doubt people whould have had ticket/keys problems with steam since ur username and password are they "key" to ur products

all what they need to do for piracy protection is check if the account is being used by multi users and then bann that account.. no need to wait for keys each time u patch etc..

COUNTER STRIKE!

COUNTER FREAKING STRIKE!

That is ENOUGH OF AN ARGUMENT against STEAM as is needed!

CS IS THE MOST HACKED GAME IN THE WORLD!

THE WORLD!

WORLD!

Not, America, not, Europe, THE WORLD.

it's about sales potencial noone cares about Your opinion about CS and hackers there ...

I have been in favor of Steam for years. It is the least intrusive of the protection schemes (other than no protection scheme). I play HL2 and RO using it and have only had minor problems in the last 2 years. That is very much unlike my problems with every ther protection scheme around.

Plus, when I need to uninstall and reinstall a Steam game, I just fire and forget... come back later and there it is, working like a charm. No idiotic limited install license.

Atari is famous for using false misleading marketing strategies. This single factor, has lead many developers to pull their products from the Atari line. Furthermore, said marketing ploy's by Atari have lead to rampant quarterly losses by said company.

Is Atari dead? By no means... no they aren't. But they as a enterprise, are rapidly drawing to a close.

Er... Atari is dead. Infogrammes bought the name to raise their image (instead of actually raising their performance).

The best thing about Steam is that you never have to download anything. Patches are automatic.

There are hackers on steam, but hacking games is very dangerous to the user. If you are caught cheating, your account will be disabled, with all your games. A risk not worth taking....

Best comment in the thread... along with the well noted first post. It does seem a little odd and I think Atari need a swift talking too.

As this turned out as a Steam pro&con thread... it is a bit OT from it's original theme, so it is a good point to close it. wink_o.gif
