GrassyKnollington 1 Posted May 30, 2007 Hello Before I go on. Firstly this is a game for the PC, not the Xbox. Secondly, the Xbox controller has no support, because this is a game for the PC. Maybe you could wait for an Xbox release sometime in the future? Thirdly. I would wait until the 1.08 patch has been released (in about two weeks). Because hopefully, all that shit Xbox code that was introduced in the last two betas has been removed. Thereby giving us Joystick owners all our functionality back. You no doubt will be able to adjust keybinds to your Xbox controller just like you can with any other joystick. But, as I said earlier - I would wait until 1.08 has been released, then have a read of what people think of the new patch. Rgds - Tom
max power 21 Posted May 30, 2007 Secondly, the Xbox controller has no support... Perhaps you would care to explain the entry in the official change log that mentions improved xbox 360 support, then.
vilas 477 Posted May 30, 2007 "Perhaps you would care to explain the entry in the official change log that mentions improved xbox 360 support, then" hehehe this shows why there are so many problems with game, probably one or other guy from developer team working on patch haven't noticed it is for PC and now we have so many topics abut trobles
sickboy 13 Posted May 30, 2007 Also got an xbox360 controller, though never ever used (nor thought about) using it for ArmA. If I ever am too bored i'll give it a go and report it back to yah

ck-claw 1 Posted May 30, 2007 i only use 360 controller for flying! easier to use than my joystick! The 1.07 beta added support but it only added the vibration, which when sat on my pc desk and playing as infantry annoyed the fook outta me with it rattling about!-so i had to put in on the carpet to shut the darn thing up! And it also totally changed the config i had for it previously!

Rgds - Tom The XBox controller is designed as a generic USB controller, Major SillyPants. It works to control many PC games as well as XBox, that was one of Microsoft's goals when making it. Shashman 0 Posted May 30, 2007 I think it's great how BIS decided to add support for a game console controller over fixing some of the more blatant problems ArmA suffers
Fekin-Detri 0 Posted May 30, 2007 so XBOX is like PC ? Yeah, like a pile of shit in a box
guerilla -MCY- 0 Posted May 30, 2007 i allwys thought the controls are somehow like using such a x360 controller, somehow limited and robotic, might this compability be the reason, why arma feels so bad with a mouse, or is it just me ?
hoz 0 Posted May 30, 2007 Vilias, Shashman, There is a thread for discussing your disappointment's. Use it. Edit: Renamed the topic to better suit the discussion.
newbieboka 0 Posted May 30, 2007 Looks like someone is a bit passive agressive... Using the Xbox 360 controller in the game is great, I used it mainly for helo flying as I didn't have a joystick before and it worked like a charm. I'm not too sure how good it would work as an infantryman thing, but I'm sure you'd be able to set it up And btw, the 1.07 patch screwed xbox 360 controllers too, seing as remapping stuff is a real pain, and I believe that mostly the 360 controllers have exactly the same issues with the patch that most other joysticks have. Yay, an actual answer to the guy's question.
maxqubit 1 Posted May 30, 2007 Flying (and driving) with the 360 controller was great (see heli vid in my sig) but i couldn't set it up properly for infantry. I tried to use mouse+keyboard+coffeetable to no avail. I want to play with the controller so i dumped ArmA for now and am currently enjoying PES on 360 (also a sim). If the controller will do the infantry bit i probably will return but then some issues have to be solved, like trigger for fire(and hold_breath), i had a mail conversation with Suma about this. Better still, why not make ArmA/360? ... yeah i know, there is a thread about this (a very dead thread)
BigWolf 0 Posted May 31, 2007 IIRC, the beta patch introduced a new method of of detecting and using a 360 controller But, due to a certain remapping bug, it's supposed to be getting removed by the final patch That was the last I heard about it anyway
frederf 0 Posted May 31, 2007 It is my impression that ArmA is now currently designed to work better with the XBox 360 controller than with a real joystick or even mouse and keyboard for many ground and air vehicles.
