Until now, it had problems simulating the TrackIR interface to input data into the various game.

I actually wrote to the guy coding freetrack to show him newview (he didn't know it !!! and put him in contact with its developers.

The software is free. You just need a webcam and the know how to make the hat attachment. I'm guessing that honestly, you could probably go with buying a track clip, then putting the 4 IR LEDs on there and wiring them up yourself.

This looks extremely cool, and I will definitely be trying this as soon as I can find the necessary materials.

Anybody actually try this yet? How well does it work compared to real trackIR?

I'd like to give it a shot myself, but I'm not interested in wasting my time if the thing turns out to be more trouble than it's worth.

I already have TrackIR but I'm interested in how it performs as well. Pretty cool stuff. Is it accurate? Does it bug out often?
