MehMan 0 Posted May 22, 2007 I'm looking for some good infantry battle locations, so far I've found only one good one: Just west of obergan. It offers good visibilty and a good flatish terrain, The hills aren't too steep and it isn't too flat, the vegetation isn't overdone but there's enough to provide cover. There are other objects around that provide cover, the whole place is perfect for a nice infantry on infantry battle. Besides this I haven't found anything else, so does anybody else have any good locations where you could battle it out without one side being in a total and absolute advantage? And I don't mean deserts, they provide no cover at all. Also, the AI doesn't preform as well in urban enviroments as it does in open fields, so scratch anything more than four houses out. So, what else do we have?
bravo 6 0 Posted May 22, 2007 i think NE,E of cayo is also a nice place for it too
imustkill 0 Posted May 22, 2007 The two outlying islands, Rahmadi & Antigua. Also I believe there is a large field south of the Paraiso Airport that could be suitable.
jakerod 254 Posted May 22, 2007 Ironically I was just fighting a battle there. I think the area around Samoto or whatever in the south is a good place.
MehMan 0 Posted May 22, 2007 Hmm, well the Cayo area is all desert. And the desert is flat. AI snipes too well with single shots. Not a lot of fun. The Somato area also looks very nice. The Modesta-Gaula-Everon triangle area looks nice from the map.
INNOCENT&CLUELESS 0 Posted May 23, 2007 There is no place for good infantry battles since wooden fences, even in worst condition, or some bushes are solid as a rock and enough to stop infantry since small hops or climbing impossible. You can see this in the shacktac video how they are hindered by wooden fences.

Fences can be taken out with rockets. Or satchels. I found Ortego was interesting if you are looking at defence. You have many high points for seizing to gain the highground and firing positions (unless there is armor in which case you're just a big, ugly exposed target). N/NW of Ortego proved quite good. A few hundred meters and you are into urban combat. Pretty cool.

456820 0 Posted May 23, 2007 Pesto, Bananza and Corinto all near Paraiso is very nice for some infantry battles mainly because the terrain varies quite nicely and can provide decent cover and at times leave you all out exposed. Also Tlaloc and Pacamac in the West of the North of the island is also quite fun. Has some nice forest in between so is almost perfect for enemy counter attacks of masses of infantry. It also has high mountains to the East of the towns leaving it also quite nice for sniper support whilst the infantry attacks the towns.
NoRailgunner 0 Posted May 23, 2007 What are "good infantry battle locations"? Even in the hills/mountains, forest and desert the infantry should fight! But with more than 40 AI infantry platoons...
INNOCENT&CLUELESS 0 Posted May 23, 2007 I guess it is meant "also good for AI pathfinding". Send 100 AI through a town and you will see, not all will leave the town, some of them will hang in some backyards or other narrow places unable to calc a valid path out there. Hence open areas are good if AI is involved, cities are only recommended if AI should stay at predefined positions or if the mission is pure human vs human.
