jordan_dj21 0 Posted May 21, 2007 Anyone with an ATI Video card experiencing the handle leak present in all catalyst drivers (except 6.7) IF the 7.5 drivers when released (any day now) still have no mention of ARMA and the handle leak can we all please hound, complain, abuse the ATI AMD website, phonelines, forums so that they fix this problem as it is doing my nut in. Can you imagine, a new ATI catalyst driver with no handle leak and improved performance in arma? I'll keep dreaming......
max power 21 Posted May 21, 2007 Yeah and maybe some freaking crossfire support.

bravo 6 0 Posted May 21, 2007 if they dont fix this fecking problem, i might ask for refund of my video card. I already reported the issue, i believe others more have complained about it. If they dont fix this crap for the next drivers they will lose future clients, for sure!
bootleg soldier 2 Posted May 21, 2007 Love to ask for a refund but my 9800xt is 3 years old , have to say it gives great performance still and am so glad i invested in it at the time. Jordon i have requested by email and other methods for the next drivers to give some priority to the handle leak but as you say don't hold your breath folks, funny how the 8800 users getting all flustered and uptight and us ATIers just get on with it BTW that last part was not serious, for all you jump down my throaters Best regards Bootleg

All I can say is that if ATI drivers 7.5 fix the handle leak but there is no improvement in performance in Arma and the latest beta patch doesn't improve things then i give up! hitsqdzulu 0 Posted May 21, 2007 Jordan...hang in there buddy this game will get worked out....trust me ....Bis and the community will get this going. I played OFP since the beta ...I have been through all the beta patchs for OFP.....This is the greatest game ever made in my opinion.....I understand how you feel ....but any hard core war gamer with a little patience....will be rewarded with the best war gaming experience. Please be dont get frustrated....It will get worked out. No other game can compare to the freedom of Arma...Sorry for bad grammer ...just got off work and had a few cold ones. This is the game I have always wanted OFP to be...I know other people will say different ....but this is only my opinion. hang in ther buddy the end result will be off the hook
jordan_dj21 0 Posted May 21, 2007 i agree its an amazing game, on the south island I can play huge battles in the desert with decent performance but urban combat and North Sahrani are impossible with shocking fps and missing textures. I just hope its fixed, and soon!

Apparently ATI has an incredibly long development pipeline. For the sake of our sanity, let us pretend that the US release is day 0, and that they will begin to impliment a crossfire profile for ArmA in the next couple of months. After that, it's match and gascan time.

bravo 6 0 Posted May 22, 2007 Has anyone tried using Omega drivers?Do they get the leak as well? yes, i already tryed. It has the handle leaks aswell.
max power 21 Posted May 22, 2007 The omega drivers are just some 3rd party tweak of the catalyst drivers. I wouldn't expect much difference in terms of architecture.
Yoma 0 Posted May 22, 2007 I'm using the 6.7's on my x1950, no driverleak, anything higher leaks like hell. I've started a similar thread weeks if not months ago. As i only play arma, the 6.7's do work for me. Also eagerly hoping for new drivers (potential performance gain as the one i use is really for x1900 and not for x1950)
kklownboy 43 Posted May 22, 2007 Running CrossFire with 6.12s. 7.1, 7.2. NO CF with 7.3, 7.4, and thats on any 3d DX game. To get CF i copy the Arma.exe to Desktop, then rename it to hl2.exe.Put back in Arma folder. Usualy good to go, but sometimes i have to reset the CF in the CCC, And even had to reboot!. But it works. With the 107b's i had to point the shortcut to the new beta hl2.exe i renamed in the beta folder.Only works pre 7.3 drivers. Doubles my frame rate! And the handle leak. well i play for hours and it doesnt bork me, i have 2gigs and a x6800 conroe, 2 1950xtxs, so 1gig of vid ram... i think i just handle the handle leak. The problems with the 7.1s and 7.2s are self evident... but CF works (20fps is 40fps, ect)

X850s and did everything as you say, but no dice on the increased framerate with crossfire enabled. At least the program doesn't blow up when CF is enabled anymore. @Bravo6: ATI Tools can be used with any version that I have tried. The latest ATI Tools version predates catalyst 6.7 by quite a bit. Do i need to remove old drivers with clean program? ATM i have 7.3 version, so can i install the 6.7 without removing the latest?

Never change driver versions without uninstalling the drivers you wish to change, rebooting, installing the drivers you wish to change to, then rebooting again. Yoma 0 Posted May 22, 2007 yoda, can you use the ATI tools with that version? Well i don't know if all people can, but it works here. I did something quite risky: -Installed the omega's with 7.3. -Then used changed graphic driver in device manager to 6.7 ATI Tray Tools came with the omega's. All works fine here. Decent performance, alltough i do set textures to low to lower lodproblems. If you want i'll post my settings. Arma running good on p4 640 (3.4) + 2GB ram + x1950pro 512 AGP. It's not like it couldn't be better but i turn down some settings for smoother gameplay. It still looks nice though. Terrain: very low Objects: normal Textures:low Shading:low PostProcess:low Aniso Filt:high Shadow:low Anti Alias:normal Blood:high Viewdistance:2500 I can set a lot of the settings higher, but i prefer a bit less detail and a more fluent game. Framerates between 60 -
gassybutt 0 Posted May 22, 2007 Is it just me or are the handle leaks not that big a deal? I've got what would be considered an affected system: Intel e6600/2gb ram/x1950xt/cat 7.4 drivers Arma v1.05b - video settings set to 'high' Yes, I notice the threads are double or triple more than other games but in-game I don't notice any significant or noticeable changes - even after an hour or so of playing. Â Sometimes I notice slight LOD problems when coming out of a scoped zoom view but it snaps back to normal very quickly and otherwise my gameplay is always very smooth. Â Possibly having 2gb of ram helps negate the handle leak? Â I dunno. What kind of effects would a bad handle leak produce?
bravo 6 0 Posted May 22, 2007 video lag. when i start ArmA and enter a mission, i notice that the game is fast and smooth, but after some time, the game starts to lag and its not smooth anymore. It means the handle leaks started to grow...so i check task manager and they are high indeed. As higher they are the lag fest i get..
Dwarden 1125 Posted May 22, 2007 gassy the leak turns into problem after longer time of game when it reach several hundreds thousands handles trust me that turtle is faster
