i have a question for you Killagee..

those sea gull pics, have they been cropped out from bigger pictures?

my guess (based on my limited photo skills) are that they are...

if not you must have a damn good telephoto lens biggrin_o.gif

Its a bit of both actually mate. I used a 70-200 f2.8VR + 1.7x ... So a very nice zoom lens, but yes cropped a bit for composition smile_o.gif

Cheers smile_o.gif

damn, i really need a couple of new lenses...

any sugestion on good but not too expensive lenses for Nikon?

i need something to replace my sucky 18-55 kit lense and also something to replace my even suckier Sigma 70-300 telezoom..

and i need a flash, but i guess the SB800 is the way to go there...

The Nikkor stuff itself is quite cheap (compared to Canon)... also try in example Sigma. Got their 50-150/2.8 EX DC HSM lens, which is just fantastic. Costs about 600 euros (there's version II out now so the original is a bit cheaper now), won't focus on anything nearer than 1 meter but works very well past that range in the zoom range. Fast and almost silent focus, and solid structure - nothing on the outside moves unless you move it. If you won't want that I guess the 70-200 is excellent also, I think it's a Sigma too?

I'd say a handheld portrait at 125 mm in low-light (midwinter, 8 pm downtown) conditions that came out sharp is pretty good. whistle.gif

Oh, and regarding the seagulls... try pretty much any food. biggrin_o.gif
