Indeed its from GRAW2.

My fav weapon from that game smile_o.gif

Its my first addon hope you like it smile_o.gif

How did you get the camo pattern texture to be exactly the same as in GRAW, down to the pixel?

I got a picutre from here: RX4 Screen and i used it as reference. I hope the will not kill me for that XD . Also i dont use stuff from the GRAW2 Game directly so dont worry  smile_o.gif

Here is some more stuff:

What to do list before Release:

- Making the Shadows

- Find better Sounds

If someone stole my art off of a screenshot and called it not stealing I would be quite upset.

Didnt he just say he used it as a reference, and not actually stole the work? I cannot see the screen, so i dont know if he actually lifted from the screen into his texture or not.

Cheers

GC

I'm just relying on what I see.  What he says can be anything.

The term 'intellectual property' springs to mind. Its probably irrelevant whether he used the actual model or just built it from memory, it's going to be considered a breach of copyright.

You know, actually it might even be a breach of copyright if you slap on colt markings on your m4 and release it to the public....

if its the actual model, i suggest to kick his ass..

if he build it according to pictures or from memory theres nothing wrong about it.

90 % of the models here are made in the SAME WAY!

if you want to make an F-14, you cant come up with a completaly new design... or just a box with F-14 written over it..

we had these copyright discussions before, theres more appropriate threads for this than this

WIP!!!! thread...

so how about posting pictures instead of streching juristic paragraphs all over the place...

and in Arma we have much much much smaller addonmaking manufactory than it was for OFP

we have much smaller variety, but even in those small variety we have doubled, tripled and even more of the same addons

people are working on for example LAV-25, okay... this shown on picture belowe was released few months ago:

base of body is Wilco OFP addon with permission, on posted screens i saw the same elements from OFP but not improved yet

lav25done.jpg

so we will have 2 LAVs soon, but, do we have any M109 ? do we have any MiG21, MiG23 huh.gif do we have Leopard ?

even if something was released close to realism I saw people who work on less real "but their own" (it is not about LAV now what i told, it's about other addonmaker who plans to release not realistic and wrong addon saying "who cares" if it is not realistic)

in my opinion, community instead of saying "wooow" seeing sixth' version of AK, should ask "we wanna see something that was not released yet" or if released addon is not realistic

for example like we had with some weapon addons in which there was mistake between model and real weapon

or to improve old ones

i am not here to call someones work worthless, but to say "we lack of many things but addonmakers spend their time to do something what is already made"

is someone work on Leopard tanks for Arma 1 ?? cause as far as I know , few famous and great mods wait for Arma 2 :]

of course you can cryticize me that i only defend my work, but i really miss M109, Leopards and BMP3 and BTR60 and good WW2 soldiers, better WW2 weapons, maybe WW1 mod

but even if i asked about cooperation for Project 85 mod, people wanted to offer something that was already made by 2 other addonmakers, i had four offers of PK, AK... but i had no offer of BTR60 , Leopard or like this

or maybe community is satisfied with A_ak pack addon, B_ak pack addon, C_ak pack addon, D_ak pack addon, e_ak pack addon and than if 5 mission makers will do 5 mission, in every mission there is different addon, than you will have to download 5 addons packs not compatible to each other

and Maza - you were wrong in saying about Beryl fire selector, you showed vests not used in Polish army or showed German vest, you were asking about Polish T-80, you were denying using steel helmets in Polish army, you really have no knowledge about our army , if you say that Beryl fire selector was on right side of weapons like AK, while in real  it is only safety-switch , we never had T-80 used by our army, and you make uniform in wrong colour and wrong cut of pockets

if _94 is date of your birth, than in 1993 i had RAK and P64 first time in my hands, and in 1996 i had Tantal rifle in my hands and PKM and RPG during scouting

http://www.geocities.com/canuck_infantry/Polish_Desert_Pantera.JPG

http://two.xthost.info/spykowice/pustynny2.jpg

you have it grey, not sand, i have not perfect colours too, but i wait on Yaciek improvements

even if had something top-realistic, you were saying it is wrong ;]

now i am telling what is wrong

what type of vest you use on your addon, please tell specification name, cause it is not type-KLV, type-OLV, what type of vest you do ? how is it called and who is manufacturer of this vest ?

you have pockets like on thick green uniforms, not like on ripstop

Vilas good to see you around still.....

Don't let one guy like maza get under your skin. Your addons are spectacular.

Oh and Project RACS has a MiG21 coming your way for the SLA side of our mod  smile_o.gif

Wait, you're working on an AH-64D? That M230 looks great!

we not working, we included it into mod month ago

probably not D but A, from 1985, i don't know what version of AH 64 was in 1985 A, B, C, D huh.gif i am not specialist in western technique

it is Mapfact modification too, but improved models, details are on Project 85 mod topic long time ago wink_o.gif

if you work on other version, i can help but after release ( giving M230 cannon)

Though I do actualy agree with you Vilas. Its never been something the community has been able to settle on. And I don't believe it ever will.

Though so far 90% of my addon making has been cutting my teeth on OFP ports for larger projects. (any luck they'll release some of my work before the end of the year) I've made an effort to research addons that dont exist for my own personal projects

But for many its just too difficult to resist making something they feel comfortable with or to maybe do a version of something they believe can be done better.

At least we havn't been swamped with the weekly pile of M4's and m16's that the OFP news turned into.

BTW I can think of a third LAV, being done by SoldierX of 'Australians at War' Mod. And i believe there is a Lepard out there, by either the HWM or TurkishMod (sorry guys I don't remember wich). So it's quite possible that some simply aren't aware of what they may be doubling up on.

So although I'm sure you mean well, people will make what they want to make and thats probably the way it should be.

Though I do secretly hope any one considering starting something new reads your post and thinks twice about thier next project.

why should addon makers care about whats 'missing' from ArmA though?

First and foremost you make addons for yourself, for your own personal enjoyment, thus you typically make stuff you want to make, regardless if its already been made. What the community wants or needs (a contentious issue) is a distant second, or at least thats how I've always worked, and I know a large number of others do.

If its not, then your priorities are strangely skewed. How would our standards or evolution of addons ever progress if we never duplicated work?

Dito!

Imagine youve made an AK a while back and some years later you make a superb looking Bunkersystem whatever.

now if you look back your ak, would you still accept it as an an artist to your now current standarts?

i guess not.

the same problem occurs if you release and release unique models over the time you end up with quality discrepancies of your very OWN PROGRESS!

wich means you have some unique crap lookings units from the very beginnen and some badass models you made some days back.

and now you would like to play with these all together...

that would look to good dont you...

its also a thing with mods.

mods to THEIR thing. some can have more skilled artist than others and it would be pretty unfair if a mod team would just take another mods model, cause its already there.. and implement it in their very own mod and release it.

thats not modding spirit.

so either you release GAZILLIONS of models that have the same standart at once, or keep them updating and renewing once in a while or leave it to others..

thats how modding works...

systems get better, game is getting updated, new techniques are being discoverd, new scripts and so on.

and you want to settle with old models just because you dont feel like making a new one..

thats sad.

In 1985 there would only be the "A" variant of the AH-64.

Guess I saw it otherwise.

Thats why I went to Footmunch seeking permissions on his OFPOR units ..... community was seeing too many pending western air weapons and I feel if you make something different for 1 side, you should produce something similar for the other side ....... for balanced game play. It is a game after all.

Have to laugh we people say "great to see youre making something for the enemy"

Until mod makers are paid for their time, they are under no obligation to make anything for anyone.

People need to realise how lucky they are that addon/mod makers release anything at all.

i agree with you totally Gnat.

For example we are releasing a MiG 21 to offset some of our western aircraft for project RACS, a M60-2000 to offset ERA equipped T64s and Vilas T72s....

Well, your interested in doing things for the community- that's still your interest. Doing stuff like that must make you happy. If it didn't I doubt that you would have done that. I'm sure that there are people like you, people that like what they like more than they like to figure out what the community wants, and people who don't give a rats ass what the community wants and will do what they want regardless.

In addition, seeking someone's permission to use their art and developing your own art are two fantastically different things.

well, I didn't say that I never took into consideration what the community wants, I just said it was a distant second to what I want to make. Luckily the two tend to meet. Why mod when its not enjoyable? Why make stuff I don't want to make? Where's my reward in that? Unlike others, I'm not here to inflate my sizable ego by playing puppet to the community, I get a sense of satisfaction when I make something I like, and I can go enjoy in ArmA.

Yes, I enjoy making things for the community, but thats got no correlation with with what the community wants or needs. They are two distinctly seperate things.

Ok, but surely you're making OPFOR units, both because you felt there wasn't enough eastern weapons AND because you wanted to. I would assume that you're not maing them against your will because the community asked you to? What if I said I think that ArmA is severely lacking a pink disney princess palace? Would you rush out to make that? biggrin_o.gif

Agreed - there are always going to be distinctly different types of people making addons, and their approach/reasoning behind it, but I'd struggle to imagine someone making something they didn't want to make, purely because the community asked for it? Unless you're getting paid to do it, it just doesn't make much sense. Although its al relative in this strange crazy mixed up world. tounge2.gif

hmm... i was taking many requests in past and now

so for example for me it was important what community wanted

for example in OFP i made STGW 57 for request, some other like Korean War units (not known in the community)
