WIP: stuff you are working on!

you pretty much summed it up ... thx for that smile_o.gif

i never mapped a whole model or used normal maps , only bump or displacementmaps for decals like tire sidewalls,windows or license plates , so i can't tell how i would master mapping a whole mesh .

i only have 3ds since this year's march and spent too much time (~4 months) on my first project , so i didn't have the time to make additional ones to practice other stuff .

i will have a look at normal maps later , first thing is to finish the Venom .

ps : maybe it is of someone's interest , here the link to the thread of my first 3d high poly project :

Ok thanks for your help nephilim, guess I have to figure out about making a cage in xnormals after all.

Sorry, just to clarify, does that mean those maps wont work at all, or just that the light won't change on them as the object turns around?

they prolly wont work at all

besides any other map besides tangent space normal maps

dont allow mirroring and arent dynamic.

means light has to be prerendered on them.

if you dont use an app like MAX maya modo blender etc etc.

i suggest you nvidia´s melody

its free and you can derive your high poly data onto the uv set of the low poly.

well seeing as nephilim has been hard at work, i took some time today to work on my HK416 (GASP! HE LIVES! ).

yep, still working on it, be it not as often as i'd like to.

here's a nice little video i put together after working on the lower reciver. i had half of it done earlier, but i forgot to save and my PC crashed (kicks him self). anyways, i got quite a bit of it done in a few hours.

yes I do, but I have too low experience in that program. Actually I have some problems with bridging closed splines and sometimes even opened edges...

Anyway, there is always possibility to make faces manually.

Played with the wood real quick:

Before you go too far with it, you should discard the rear

leaf sight and use the simpler "L" shaped peep sight if you're

making a late-production M1928A1 TMC.

If you want, you could also dispense with the witness holes

on the magazine. British armourers in the middle East usually

filled these in with solder as they let in dirt too easily.

The OH-58D Kiowa Warrior is used for reccon mostly. Really love that chopper. Here is a pic:

Just hacked together from models I found online. I can't model a damn thing so this is propably as far as it will go...

yeah, simply took the vest of the SLA Sniper model and the lower part of the US sniper model.

Took me about five minutes as I only edited the first lod at the moment.

Edit: Another quickie. Don't think I'll ever be able to "finish" them. I'm struggeling already with simple edits of already existing models...
