quiet_man 8 Posted May 18, 2007 Disclaymer (so at least people don't try to kill me for "wrong" reasons ): This is not against Fans who buyed new PC for Arma and now have propblems getting the game stable. This is against: "Arma must run with everything on very high because I have $$$$ Hardware" Real Start: Looking through "General" and "Troubleshooting" latlely it came to my mind that we might have a true philosophical question here: Some people buy new PC to play Arma. Some people complain that any game runs fine on their expensive hardware, just not Arma. Now I wonder how many people buy Arma just to beat the crap out of their $$$$ Hardware, without real interest in Arma? QuietMan

4 IN 1 0 Posted May 18, 2007 why there is no "buy new super rig as upgrade and try running ArmA on it?"

LoFFeN 0 Posted May 18, 2007 I'm buying new Hardware basically to get rid of the old sh1t I have now. <-- I'm sick of it.
quiet_man 8 Posted May 18, 2007 why there is no "buy new super rig as upgrade and try running ArmA on it?" isn't this covered by the first option: "people buy $$$$ hardware to play $$ Arma" ?? by the way, thx for the answers QuietMan
bonko the sane 2 Posted May 18, 2007 i bought a new DX10 compatible pc, it just happened that Arma was released a week earlier Ok, playing Arma (lest not forget Oblivion and SH4) at very high settings was one of the reasons, but i had a venerable overheating AMD2800+ and a dead GeForce5600 with no fan. Might as well buy a pc that will be very acceptable in 2 years time

nth1739 0 Posted May 18, 2007 I think the question is valid, since I have spent over $350 just to play a $40 game at an avg FPS of 30 LOL. I really feel strongly about the OFP/Arma franchise so I didnt mind.
Baff1 0 Posted May 18, 2007 I tried spending an extra $600 to increase the FPS, but it didn't make any difference. At least I tried. I can live with 30 FPS, but I would use the game more if I could get 60. Most of my regular gaming guests won't play this game with me on my LAN. It's too laggy for them. They hate it and moan incessantly. Obviously after spending thousands on buying a games LAN, I'm not willing to sit in a room full of drunk people moaning about lag and load something else instead. I've had just the one good session with this game so far. It was well worth the asking price. I should think I'll get another sooner or later. It's just a matter of finding the right people but the laggy infantry play doesn't make that easy.
ArmaVidz 0 Posted May 18, 2007 I spent $1200 CDN for a new rig. I needed one anyway, my 4200+ X2 was slower than a retarded-slug-on-valume in alot of the new games/mods. If you want to play the latest games, you pay the latest prices. My gaming time is my sanity. I pay the price gladly. By the way, the poll reminded me of that spam I see in my e-mail everyday (no offence, sir) <span style='color:red'>Online Farmacy &Hello SHE D0eS You like b uy CiALIS -¢Viagra cheap!
