CzingerX 0 Posted May 14, 2007 Can someone give a brief overview on what to do to unlock things in the armory so I can watch them all? Thanks.

Clavicula_nox4817 0 Posted May 14, 2007 I thought you could unlock stuff in the Armory by completing some of the tasks? I didn't think you had to do the campaign? See, using the M113 I earned over 100 points before I got tired of the aluminum can. Nothing unlocked, and then on the armory screen, I'm credited with 0 points. It was kinda frustrating. Is there a certain procedure that needs to be done?
max power 21 Posted May 14, 2007 Chalk that up to the beta status, I think. I've unlocked 3 things... a motor bike, a truck, and a crew member... they're not the most points-getting units... and I'm always getting 0 points after I leave the armory aswell. perineum 0 Posted May 14, 2007 Every 200 points you earn while "trying out" something in the armory unlocks something else. While you are in the trying out mode you run around on the small item completing various challenges to earn anywhere from 10 to 50 points. Every 200 you earn unlocks something. I have been able to unlock several things while playing with the same vehicle. The challenges work by giving you a main challenge for 25 to 50 points or so and might be something like transport some troops somewhere or win a race in a set time limit. While doing the main challenge you can be tasked with a bonus challenge for 10 points or so by doing things like maitaining a certain speed for a length of time or by traveling a set distance in a certain amount of time. Each item in the armory has its own set of challenges. Though some are very similar. Find something your good at and earn points (200, 400...so on) to unlock stuff. Naw, I have US release. I didn't know that you had to earn 200+ points in a single run. Good reply.
max power 21 Posted May 14, 2007 It hasn't really worked that way every time for me, at least I don't think. I'm running the 505 version with the beta patch. I'll give it more attention next time I play it, for sure.
JagdPanther101 0 Posted May 14, 2007 I have the U.S. version as well and I've been spending a lot of time unlocking. I unlocked 15 items tonight in a little over 2 hours. Judicious use of the "+" key to increase time flow during certain challenges makes it a lot easier. And if it's a large challenge and I have the time left, doing the Secondary Challenges that pop up. Also, unlike previously stated, the max points you can earn from a Primary Challenge is 100 points, and that's in the Mobility Range (the one where you have to take a vehicle through an obstacle course). I only use the M113 to unlock right now because it's the easiest and I routinely get 120+ points during the Mobilty Range challenge by doing Secondary challenges that pop up during it. Also, I use the Time + feature while doing the 3 in-water checkpoints because otherwise I'd never finish. Water travel in the M113 is horrid... As it should be, but still. I discovered that if you hug the shoreline you can do the Swimming secondary challenges quickly. Actually, I should qualify, I don't know how many points you get for the Attack/Defense challenges with the M113 because I've never completed one. They're a waste of time, IMO (unless I find out they give, like, 200+ points at which point I will figure out how to win those easily). I've only unlocked 16 items in all (15 tonight), and it looks like I've barely made a dent... LOL But I figure ~2 hours/night for a week and I'll be done unlocking. I wanna see all the stuff you can get. I heard/saw that there's an artillery piece in the Armory. Ooooooooh, do I wanna try that so badly. ^_^ But, until then, it's mush, mush with the M113. Unless, of course, I find out a better unit with which to gain points and unlock.
5133p39 16 Posted May 14, 2007 If you complete all the singleplayer missions, everything in armory should be unlocked (it worked for me). And for anyone having difficulties completing any of the SP missions (last time i had the pleasure to play the "M02 - Miner Convoy" three times while each try ended with my extraction chopper blown to pieces by two tanks in the convoy destination base), you can... !!! WARNING - IF YOU DESPISE SINGLEPLAYER CHEATING, STOP READING !!! ...you can fake the completion of SP missions by editing the 'activeKeys' array in your player profile by adding all the keys from M01 to M09 (I am talking about 1.07 BETA, not about the retail US version of the game which, as i heard, should have few additional SP missions - in that case you will probably need to add the keys for those additional missions too), and the next time you load the armory, everything will unlock. max power 21 Posted May 14, 2007 It works as above stated. I must have been on crack on friday... the armory and how it worked was mesmerizing to me. Anyways, I find the ah6 to be a fun way to get lots of points... but some challenges are too hard with it, same with the m113. Those challenges really teach you what you can and can't do! Big Dawg KS 6 Posted May 14, 2007 You should take note that the pool of locked content includes everything in the game, so don't be surprised when you end up unlocking 20 different civilians (quite dumb I know).
MehMan 0 Posted May 14, 2007 The Armory is stupid sometimes. I took the rubber boat for a ride and it put me on land for my challenge...

Commando84 0 Posted May 14, 2007 is the armory only in the Us version or is it in 505 uk version?
Arrowhead 0 Posted May 14, 2007 I understand it's in the 1.07 patch if you don't have the US version alreay.
weegee_101 0 Posted May 14, 2007 Yeah, I'll confirm that. Its in the 1.07 Beta, but it is a little buggy at times.
Jack-UK 0 Posted May 15, 2007 Its a good way to pass time for me =) maybe once ive got stressed out from a multiplayer game or something i'll hop along to the armoury and do a couple of challenges and unlock some new stuff =) I like it, its pretty good. BIS seem to like the idea of 'unlockables' in ArmA.. i forsee some 'role playing' elements in Game 2 (Soldier stats etc.. )
JagdPanther101 0 Posted May 16, 2007 Unlocked another 25 items tonight. ^_^ By the looks of things, I'm about half-way through the list now. Starting to get some nice toys with which to play. Got to play with the M1A1 tonight as well as the U.S. and OpFor Heavy sniper rifles. Got some range time in on those. Still plugin' away with the M113, though, for getting points. One concerning thing was that 2 of my unlocks were the AH-6 and the CRRC.... Which were things already unlocked when you first open the Armory. >_>
ColonelSandersLite 0 Posted May 16, 2007 Just cheat through the campaign with the endmission cheat to finish unlock everything .
xnodunitx 0 Posted May 16, 2007 That just degrades the point of it all, the point of the armory is to give you a chance to train with weapons and vehicles and become better acquainted with them, you have to do well or you get no new unlocks. And yeah I agree that the CRRC and AH-6 re-unlock is rather strange but I guess all vehicles count.
ColonelSandersLite 0 Posted May 16, 2007 Look man, I'm not a console gamer and couldn't care less about unlockable content. The armory is still neat anyways, because it lets you play with all the stuff, even addons. It gives you a good place to test out the equipment have a little fun with it. DnA 5154 Posted May 16, 2007 Quote[/b] ]I took the rubber boat for a ride and it put me on land for my challenge... @MehMan, do you happen to remember if this was during any particular challenge or just straight after pressing Try!? Also, was this rubber boat the starting boat CRRC? Quote[/b] ]One concerning thing was that 2 of my unlocks were the AH-6 and the CRRC.... Which were things already unlocked when you first open the Armory. >_> @JagdPanther101, that certainly isn't supposed to happen Please can you tell me any more specifics, like: * Have you only seen starting equipment be re-unlocked, or also other equipment? * I guess not, but was this the first time you started the Armory with that user profile? i.e. Did you start with only the starting equipment? Thanks for your feedback
ade_mcc 0 Posted May 16, 2007 Quote[/b] ]I took the rubber boat for a ride and it put me on land for my challenge... I had this too but thought it was deliberate - the mission said something along the lines of 'you'll have to do this on foot'. Not tried any of the other missions for the boat. Unlocked a few items last night (Camel, smoke grenade, infantry soldier IIRC). Are they unlocked in a set or random order does anyone know? Had an issue with the smoke grenade as the only mission it gave me was the shooting range and I didn't get any points (as you cant destroy anything with a smoke grenade). Only towards the end of playing last night I noticed that points gained so far for each item is desplayed at the bottom of the statistics screen but I dont know if the values are stored when the armory is exited (though the unlocked items stay unlocked). I'll have a bit more of a play tonight and will check if the values stay. All in, a great idea nicely implemented.
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted May 16, 2007 Well, I had a mission where I had to defend my location from a single Abrams tank... fair enough... ...but with an M203? And two M433s?
