revenicus 0 Posted May 13, 2007 I just played the demo and really liked the depth of the game, so I'm thinking of buying it and convincing my buddy to buy it so we can do some Cooperative missions. but i had some concerns. first is that there is some sound crackle when im playing the demo. it seems to be related to the ambient sounds that are playing because when i hear a new ambient sound startup, a new crackle starts up. i might just need to update my sound driver, which i will try but i thought id mention it anyway just in case that won't fix it. the second thing was when i start a cooperative mission in multiplayer i dont know where to pick a class(medic, heavy gunner etc). I wanted to let my friend be a sniper and me a rifleman, and then add some AI, where one could be a medic and then some others. is this possible in the full version? in the list of players they are all riflemen. Dallas 9 Posted May 13, 2007 Don't know about your sound issues, might be driver related. Player classes in coop missions are determined by the mission maker. The demo mission might only feature riflemen, but most coop missions has both a medic and sniper avaivable in the class selection. You can also always start up the mission editor, place a player unit as a sniper and another playable unit as medic. Then chose groupes and place an enemy patrol, save to multiplayer missions and play a quick fire-fight with your friend against the AI. Or find lots of downloadable coop missions at various fan sites.
Noraf 0 Posted May 13, 2007 1: have you tried disabeling eax and hardware acceleration? 2: it's dependant on the mission.

revenicus 0 Posted May 15, 2007 hey I saw a youtube movie of someone using a weapon other than the rifle in the demo. how did this person do this?, i thought if you were a rifleman slot, you could only use a rifle
Yoma 0 Posted May 15, 2007 thats the fun part in Arma! When you shoot someone and run low on ammo or whatever: you can pick up the gear the corps has: his rifle, binocs, ammo etc. Cool thing is it'll even have the actual ammo the thing had when the guy carrying it died. (eg. a ai sniper tries to shoot you twice, misses and you shoot him, the dragunov rifle he carries will actually have 1 ammoclip missing 2 shots) Same thing goes for all vehicles. You can also drop some ammo for a friend if he runs low. Its a great feature.
mads bahrt 0 Posted May 15, 2007 You can use any weapon as any class - there are no enforced limits although some players enforce some on themselves. I haven't played the demo, but one way of trying other weapons would be to take them from dead men in the game. Try going to a dead man and select Gear in the context menu. Maddmatt 1 Posted May 15, 2007 In the demo mission where they are all riflemen, click on your name in the list and you can choose your loadout. Some missions do it that way, some let you choose a class and some do both.
revenicus 0 Posted May 15, 2007 ok my name on the list, when i click it, it just removes me from that slot. this is when im starting my own cooperative server. sorry i just can't figure it out, doh
Jackal326 1181 Posted May 15, 2007 Only click your name AT THE BRIEFING (Players section) to select your loadout, not at the pool screen (where you select your slot).
whisper 0 Posted May 15, 2007 no, in the step after that : chose your role, click OK, and wait for the briefing. On the briefing page, you'll see tabs, select the "group" tab (I think) and click on your name. You'll have a list of available weapons that you can take for the mission
froggyluv 2136 Posted May 15, 2007 ok my name on the list, when i click it, it just removes me from that slot. this is when im starting my own cooperative server. sorry i just can't figure it out, doh Not that screen. Hit OK and let the mission load. Then you'll see a map screen with a notepad. At the top of notpad you'll see- "group", click that then youl'll see your name on a list. Click your name and you'll see your loadout. If it's a multiplayer mission though I'll doubt you'll have options for other weapons. Edit- wow I was too slow!
