mach2infinity 11 Posted May 10, 2007 Specs :- P4 3.2 GHZ 2GB RAM Geforce 7600 GT 256MB 111GB Hard Drive OFP Addons folder 2.08GB Whether I run video settings on low or high (frame rate & visual quality plus shadow settings) and with/without DXDLL I still get slowdown in the game. Sometimes I'll look at a certain area and the FPS will hover between 65-70 but usually it'll go right down to 30 or less. Especially when I make a sudden move or look around. The odd thing is that increasing viewing distance significantly impacts 'lag'; considring my specs that shouldn't happen. Also choosing 'very high' on terrain detail seems to cause stuttering too. - Should I perform a de-frag/disc cleanup? Would the latter be sufficient? - Do I need to make sub-folders in my addon folder? Should my addons be in the RES Addon folder or doesn't it make a difference? Any suggestions would be appreciated. karantan 0 Posted May 10, 2007 There're many things that can have an impact and influence on this; the nature of the game's graphic engine, the selected details level and view distance, the number and the type of the units on the map, some operations/programs running in the backround ,,, but I don't really see that you have some big problem with it; 30 fps can't be called for a lag, and I -and I think the others too- also have a fps drop when I make a (first time) quick look around; there're poligons or whatever that needs to be (too)quickly 'writted'. De-frag can't hurt, but if it will help or if it is enough ,,, Now about the addons; as I can understand you have all the addons in the addon folder. Not a wise thing. Maybe this have more impact and influence on the 'bad' performance than the other things you're mentioning. I'm suggesting you to sort them into the Mod folders. If you don't know how to do it check this link: http://andrew.nf/OFP/BedtimeReading/modfolders.htm. Hope this helps.
