R0adki11 3949 Posted April 23, 2007 Well here is some progress of a weapon pack that i released for OFP as part of my Nogovan Light Infantry 2.0 addon, well im planning to import these weapons over to ArmA once i have the necessary permissions sorted out, then the task of getting them to work in Arma. Well here are some links to some screenshots The Weapon Types, i intend to Release are: FnFAL in 20rd and 30rd Versions FnFAL M203 FnFAL LMG Version FnFAl Silenced FnFal Scout FnFal Scout Silenced FnFal Short - folding stock rifle
Sled88 0 Posted April 23, 2007 The one with the M203 looks strange... Isn't the launcher too far away from the mag? Rest looks fine!
ebud 18 Posted April 23, 2007 I remember using those in OFP and noticing they had a LOT of bad UV mapping issues. I really hope those can get sorted out before they get ported over. That being said, I'd love to see them ported over
R0adki11 3949 Posted April 23, 2007 Thanks Ebud @Sled88 yea the M203 may look odd because as far i know the only version of an FNFAL(L1A1) m203 was used by the Australian SAS during Vietnam and as of yet i haven't found any pictures of one. Even in the Falklands the British troops didnt have an L1A1 M203, most troops used the M79, so at the moment its abit of a mystery of how an FNFAL M203 would work and it would also be damn heavy too. Sled88 0 Posted April 23, 2007 Anyway I think you should get it a bit near the mag! Continue your nice work! PS: Found this pic but the launcher doesn't look like a M203 EDIT: It's a XM148 I think... Also used on M16A1's
Col. Faulkner 0 Posted April 23, 2007 You should fold the carrying handles down! Not only would they catch on things sticking out like that, but you'd risk the thing moving down with vibration as the gun fired and then getting cases hitting the handle and bouncing back.  Also the carrying handle on your HB variant is too far back. You'd have difficulty carrying the rifle with it as it would tip forward too much. FAL HB variants use a special handle arrangement that shifts the point of balance further forward than the LAR variants; to balance the weight of the heavier barrel (some even have the grip facing forwards - the 50.41 model or the Israeli HBs, for example). Unless this is meant to be a LAR with a bipod jury-rigged on, in which case this criticism is unwarranted. That GL in the picture is the Colt XM148, used by NZ and Australian SAS in Vietnam. Edit: The British did in fact make a lot of use of the American M16/M203 combination. It was carried not only by special forces units like  SAS, SBS and Parachute Pathfinders, but also by regular infantry toms. It was even carried in Northern Ireland in rural areas although the ROE meant that the IRA would have almost had to have been threatening us with nuclear weapons before we could have started lobbing 203 bombs back at them).
