yes yes yes, but what about a mission editor and os?

Watch the video. It was confirmed that ofp2 is going to be modable as ofp1 was. So yes mission editor is included.

i was dwinnderling my thoughts about opf2 since the announcment of of the game, but after watching the video, its looking like one hell of an improvement, you can see they have completly moved away from opf1 and just thought "you know what, i know what these gamers want in an FPS and im going to deilver it" and boy opf2 just looking amazing

LOL their UH-60 model rotates the blades clockwise in the ofp2.info video, so much research they claim but they didn't figure out all US made helicopters turn the rotor system counter clockwise... don't count on a realistic flight model.

it looks a lot like BF2. what we know now is that the fastest vehicle can only be 12 times faster than walking. lol

i doubt the weapons ingame will use 20000 poly casings though.

When a soldier marches 4-5km an hour, X12 that equals a speed of 48-60km/h over less than perfect terrain. A pretty realistic speed unless you want to kill yourself.

It does sound very good, and I realise they don't want to talk about things that have not yet been finalised or are definitely in the game, but they were a bit vague on the editor/moddability.

If you listen, the actual wording was not "'it's going to be as moddable as the original", but was rather:

Quote[/b] ]Q: "Is it going to be customisable, like Flashpoint 1, are we going to get people developing maps, mods all that kind of stuff?"

A: "Well, one of the things that was really important in the original Flashpoint was the community, and they gave a lot of life to the game long after it had first hit the shelves. So there will be a mission editor with the game; you'll be able to create your own content, share that. Absolutely."

Q: "Scripts as well?"

A: "We're gonna support the community with the same level of passion and detail the original did."

It sounds good at first but being a big pedant, it doesn't go into facts, meaning (concerning that last utterance quoted) it might not be as easy or accessible as OFP1. All we have there is the developer saying it is great, without details. However, it does sound good and I'm sure it could potentially turn out amazing.

The presentation was great and I'm looking forward to OFP2's release. However I noticed the same thing as SaBrE_UK did.

Particularly this bit:

Q: "Scripts as well?"

A: "We're gonna support the community with the same level of passion and detail the original did."

He didn't actually answer the question. So they might not have scripts or he wasn't really sure what the guy was on about (which I doubt if they have done research into this community).

Until the game is released and profit is done. wink_o.gif

I simply enjoy all those advertising stuff and of course those people who believe in every promotion pics, vids & text. Anyway good to see if two games get slightly more into realworld combat. Sadly its again "brave & super US saves the world" story. Maybe only because its better for selling such games on US market.

It could be that as AI designer, he didn't know everything that is being developed or decided upon at the moment. Since he gave the mic to the multiplayer designer it suggests he didn't specialise in that himself. I do hope scripting makes it in, or some similar sort of thing.

- Multiplayer game types - definite - Co-op campaign up to 4 of your friends

WTF! 5 people MP ........ lol .... is that a joke or a typo?!

That could just mean that they designed the campaign with up to 5 coop player slots.

Perhaps they have an API and using a common language like Python etc. instead?

I would be better to go this way (reusing existing libraries and so on, more powerful language).

The script language of ArmA (and probably ArmaII) is not bad and has its advantages too (tightly integrated with the engine).

But I miss OO-features and the possibility to reuse algorithms in existing libraries.

That is just to play through the SP Campaign with your friends, they're promising larger multiplayer battles, but they haven't given exact figures yet.

5 player coop campaign. Meaning, the campaign missions are designed to support up to 5 players at one time. This is an improvement over ArmA which features a 1 player campaign.

Surely, Gnat, you didn't mean to imply that you thought that 5 players was the hard limit for multiplayer.

Wasn't it said to be 4 player, not 5?

This should clear it all up, watch it again ...

Unless they are advertising that only your friends can play, I'd imagine that they are hinting at 4 + 1. This is reading this text only, I don't know what the video said.

What i was doing there is only jotting down a multiplayer mode that was not confirmed until now.

There are other modes confirmed but that one was the only one i think was new to us and confirmed.

Multiplayer Campaign co-op with up to 4 other players. Working on the same team.

Simple enought isnt it?

yup and if that statement is true, there wont be any player controlled planes or helicopters. they just said that traveling across the entire map takes x amount of time using the fastest vehicle. planes/helos usually dont fly that slow. rofl.gif

Check the video again - 4.5h in a hummer or about 20 minutes in the fastest aircraft, not 4.5h on foot... sounds pretty big to me. Also at least helicopters were definitely confirmed during the presentation (including that you'll play a 'helicopter commander' during part of the campaign).

hi,

I'm really waiting for OFP2. The more big question for me is the editing moding and scripting, the guy didn't answer to the question confused_o.gif . I'm a bit septic about that. I need to see before believe. If there's no editor, script possibilities, and moding that's just sux and the ofp1 community'll go back to ArmAII or 'll go play others game.

cu.

Nikiller.
